  1. I've been hearing this guy for the last three nights. I wasn't certain what it was so I posted a sound bite on an owl Facebook Forum. The Admin of the group messaged me what the species was and offered to come out and help me find it this morning. Took us about an hour but we were successful, as you can see. This was the first owl that I've ever been able to photograph. Great way to start the day!!
  2. Think he hung on for 8 seconds? I bet his buddies had a good laugh! http://www.msn.com/en-us/weather/topstor...cker/ar-BBi9UTj
  3. Made this over the last couple of weekends. I think it turned out pretty good for mostly scrap wood. Saw a bunch of woodies and a few mallards while setting this up. Geese seem to be grouping up in flight, big flocks today! Looking forward to opener! Albany, MN
  4. Half a dozen have been here since Saturday.
  5. Just had 3 bluebirds land in a tree right outside my window. Isn't it a little early for them to be back?
  6. Saw one of your pictures in the outdoor news this week. Very Cool!
  7. Thanks all! I must say this birding thing is ridiculously addicting. I never would have thought it could be such a fun hobby. Glad there's a community here that shares the same passion.
  8. Bird vs Window today I think this is a Magnolia Warbler
  9. Hey Harvey, My old Oriole feeder was time for the trash so I tried out your pint jar method. Works really good so far and with all the rain we've been having, it convienently fills itself up too Thanks for the tip!
  10. Woke up on Sunday and couldn't believe the amount of warblers in my yard. Not the greatest pictures but overly satisfied I got the proof! Most of these are firsts for me too. Blackburnian Warbler Bay Breasted Warbler Blackpoll Warbler Chestnut Sided Warbler Myrtle Warbler Tennesse Warbler ?? Yellow Warbler American Redstart American Redstart
  11. Revival. Who's going to get the first sighting this year? With the crazy weather pattern, I wonder if they'll still be back in a week or so.
  12. Trying to get away from the auto setting! Still learning...
  13. Redpoll and goldfinch lunch time.
  14. Was this shot taken in Albany just off of County Road 40? Looks like the same tree across the lake from my house. I see two eagles perched there almost every day. Small world if it is!
  15. Hydro, Brilliant idea! I admit, I was skeptical that it would work but I went out today and bought some fly strips. When I got home I immediately modified an old hat and went for a stroll through the yard. To my suprise, not one fly managed to escape the hat trap! For the first time in a month, I got back to the house without flailing my arms around like a lunatic trying to evade those little buggers. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Off to enjoy the yard again!....
