  1. This issue seems to be very wide spread. Here in Colorado, I've talked to a lot of guys that have had these same problems with their Raps. My experience, over the last 30 years or so, is that I have never had a problem with a Rapala Lure falling apart, loosing lips, etc. I have had some issue with getting some to tune properly, but thats been about it. I've had more problems with high priced Muskie lures falling apart, breaking, losing lips, and finishes coming off, etc. after, sometimes, minumum use. Jeff
  2. Hello Everyone, Just a heads up to everyone who are still interested in Big Game Hunting in Colorado. Leftover tags will become avalible starting on August 12, 2008. These tags will also be avalible on the DOW's web site starting on 8-13-08. I just reviewed the list and looks like there are good oppurtunities for those willing to do a little homework and plan a hunt. Good Luck, Jeff
  3. Cooter You can apply for every species if you want. You can only generate a preferance point for each species applied for each year. Only one application per species is accepted. Hope that helps. Jeff
  4. From what I have heard, winter kill in the Gunnison area seems to have been kept to a mim. this year. Massive supplimentle feeding programs throughout the region went very well over the winter. Pre-hunt numbers appear to be in good shape. Jeff
  5. As much as I love going to MN to fish for fall Muskies, Grouse and Woodcock and Duck hunting, it's hard to beat fall Big Game hunting in Colorado. I have a pretty diverse season ahead as I get to hunt eastern plains deer, for whitetail, Bear, Pronghorn, Elk and Mule Deer (Leftover). Jeff
  6. I love mine too. Seems to have been working very well for me. In windy conditions, however, I prefer to operate with foot control. Jeff
  7. Here's my final tally for tags Drew Archery Deer Unit 96 Drew Rifle Pronghorn Unit 87 Drew Sept Season Bear Unit 29 (Also good for 3 other Units) Drew Point for Elk - Will buy OTC Archery Tag Blanked on Sheep and Goat - Still accumulating Points. Hope everyone is faring well with draws. Don't forget to check on leftover tags when they become avalible. Good luck everyone. Jeff
  8. Good luck Mike. By tomorrow you should know. Jeff
  9. A Leines Honey Weiss and Elk Burger Sliders, with thousand island dressing, on the grill. (Had some Elk burger in the freezer and decided to make little burgers on little buns a couple of weeks ago and WOW!) Jeff
  10. About 6 more days for Elk and Deer draw results to be posted, but so far I have drawn Pronghorn (Took me 7 points to draw, and I live in Colorado!) and Bear tags. Did not draw Sheep, again, got my check back in the mail about a week ago. Jeff
  11. The Deer and Bear pics are front range foothills where I hunt. The Elk pics are on a ranch just outside of Castle Rock, CO a couple of miles from where I live. As a matter of fact, an Elk was just hit and killed by a car crossing I-25 this morning. Jeff
  12. For all of you guys waiting for hunting permit confirmations, thought you might enjoy some Colorado Big Game pics to help get everyone in the mood, that is of course if you need the motivation. Enjoy!
  13. I can't tell you how overwhemled I felt after reading your story. It's been 2 years 8 months now when I had to put my 8 year old Lab, Duncan, down. Your story brought back some incredible emotions for me. I think of him often, but rarely compare him, to my now 2 year old. Only when I get mad sometimes. We find ways to move on, however, but never giving up the memories we have of a dear, lost compainion. Jeff
  14. For those of you planning on Big Game hunting with a muzzleloader in CO this season. Be aware that a Colorado Wildlife Commission ruling in Jan. 2008 prohibites the use of electronic or battery powered devices incorporated into or attached to Muzzleloaders durning the season. Electronic Ignition Muzzleloaders are no longer legal in Colorado. Just a heads up for those who may not be aware of this. Hope this helps someone out. Jeff
  15. Sorry to report, but never made it to Nebraska for our Pike trip. A severe winter storm and bizzard in NE Colorado and western NB Friday afternoon made us decide not to travel. A normal 6 hour drive to our destination, probably would have turned out to be 10 or more. Headed south of Denver instead a couple of hours to do some Bass fishing. We may try again in a couple of weeks. Jeff
  16. Heres a few pics of some Pike and Muskies from Northern MN in the fall of 2003. Drove from Denver,CO straight through to Walker, started fishing the next morning and it was fish on for the rest of the week.
  17. I could not believe I was able to post on the fist try, so I thought I would try it again.
  18. Here's mine. Thought I would try and post my first pic. 2003 Lund Angler w/ 70 hp Suzukie tiller.Hope this works
  19. Dillon, Congrats on getting married. I actually deer hunt near that area so I'm pretty familar. Barker Res. is just east of Nederland and can provide some decent action on Rainbow Trout and Browns as well. Boulder Creek runs east from Barker into the town of Boulder, and can give you some pretty fair action on Trout, especially if you fly fish. There's good national forest access to several other lakes and streams just north of town near Ward, CO. and south of town to Rollinsville and head west up the mountain, past Moffit Tunnel, can give you some more choices for Trout fishing on lakes. If you have a good map, you should not have any trouble finding these places. Let me know if I can help you out some more. Jeff
  20. I like this forum. A group of us here in Colorado make several Pike fishing trips a year to Nebraska just for the Pike. Both on the hard lid and in the spring. We are acutualy leaving tomarrow for our annual spring outing. Can't wait. Jeff
  21. For those of you interested in Colorado, I have posted a general conditions report in that forum. I will try and up date this on a regular time frame as interest dictates. I know a lot of you guys have submitted applications for Big Game here, as have I, and can keep you posted on information regarding that if I here anything that may be "earth shattering" as far as hunting goes. Hope this can help some of you guys out. Anything I can do, let me know. I'll do my best to pass on any info I here about. Thanks Jeff
  22. Fishing Conditions in Colorado seem to be improving a little bit. Front Range lakes and Res. water temps are slowly rising and fishing is improving for LMB, SMB, Walleye and Trout. Local ponds and lakes throughout the Denver Metro area are seeing some good quality Bass catches right now, while some of the larger Res. are just starting to see improving action for Walleye and SMB. Walleye are in post spawn patterns right now, while Bass spawning is still a month away. Average water temps on Chatfield, Cherry Creek, Aurora Res in the low to mid 50 degree range. While Pueblo Res. approaching high 50 degree range in backs of creek arms. Horsetooth Res. ,in Ft. Collins, is still in the mid to upper 40 degree range, with some deep water SMB action being reported. Note: A 13lb Walleye was caught in Martin Lake, Walsenburg, CO Lathrop State Park, about 2 weeks ago, as reported by the DOW fishing reports page. Currently it is snowing where I am at right now in Castle Rock, seems to be a pattern each week about this time with cold front conditions making the bite a bit tough on the weekends. Things will improve I'm sure. Jeff
