There are actually quite a few lakes on the muskie list, that do not show any muskies on the lake survey. I think it would be nice to build up the population on some of these lakes. Now, granted most of those lakes are the shoepac strain of muskies. I know the DNR doesn't like to displace the natural strain that is in a lake. They have done it in the past, and it has produced well. They could start to put the Leech Lake strain into these waters. As far as the Mississippi goes, they do stock near St. Paul, and there are muskies in the Brainerd area, and spots north and south.

I am heading over to Holcombe for a weekend, and bringing my boat. I was wondering what the water clarity is like, and any suggestions on baits for smallies, or muskies. I will be over there October 14-16. Thanks, Lance

I am glad everyone had a good time. I was unable to make the meeting, as I was in Florida for the week. I wish I could have made it. I will be working the Brainerd chapter of MI at the Extreme Expo next weekend. I will be working at the North Metro booth for the Blaine show. I might also be working my neighbors booth at the Blaine show. He won't be at Medina because there is a large tradeshow in Vegas that he will be working. There will be quite a few booths there, and if you stop by the Brainerd MI booth on Friday I might be there. Lance

I don't have a new one, but have read that they are all composite now. I want to go check them out at the boat show, as they have brought my boat back, Rampage Magnum. I love the looks of the Rampage, and also the 2060. Check out some of the threads over on muskiefirst, under the boat & motor section. There were 12 or 13 boats. Only 1 fish caught. My partner had 6 follows early, and later in the day missed one on a spinnerbait. Everyone saw fish early, but weren't getting hooks into them. My partner had his reef hawg roll, and the fish bumped the backside. The day turned out nice once it warmed up. Water temps were still in the 60's. I am looking forward to possibly doing this again next year. There were some good deals at the silent auction. Lance

She is in school right now, so I don't know what exactly they might be looking for. I would guess fishing equipment that could be auctioned off, with all the proceeds going to Make-A-Wish. First, Second, and Third place are plaques. Call the number on the pdf, and ask what they may be looking for. I am just trying to help get more people involved in a good charity. Lance

Here is what I got from Libby. There are two sets of $90 Vikings tickets that are really really good seats. We also have some Fig Rig rods, a marine band radio, and some Ranger wear. So it is really good stuff. We need some other things though. Libby

Hey Everyone, If you ever needed a good excuse to go fish Tonka on a Saturday in October here you go. Libby is having a charity fundraiser for Make-A-Wish of MN this Saturday. Even if you can't make it for the tournament, you should make it down for the Awards at 3:00 at Maynards. They will be having a silent auction for items both fishing and non-fishing. I heard that one of Tim's neighbor's donated some 50 yard line tickets to the vikes later in October. I talked to Tim last night, and asked him to get me a list of items for the auction. Hopefully I will get that, and post it under this one. The cost to fish this tournament is $150 per person, or $400 for a boat of 3 people. What baits do you have? They have quite a few different lines, and some lures were distributed by Odyssey that are no longer produced by them. Lance

Actually for a rod, go get a Gander Mountain guide series rod. Nice and light, and somewhere around $60. I have a 7' with a Abu c4 5601 (thumb bar). I love the setup. My other setup's are All-Star's with Tica reels. Very comfortable setups. The Tica ($130) would cost you double the Abu ($65), but they are very smooth (12 ball bearings). Lance
