  1. I have had several different brands of fillet knives, Buck, Gerber, Rapala, folding Kershaw, Wal-Mart cheapo's and a Cutco. I have to say that the one I grab the most often is the Gerber, holds an edge well and is easy to sharpen. Then it would be a tie between the folding Kershaw and the Cutco, both are very nice knives. The one I like the least for what it cost is the Buck, blade it to stiff and it's a bit(h to sharpen.
  2. Reeds also has the Lowrance 3600 igps on sale for $399. It is a stand alone gps with a color 5 inch screen. If you are mounting it in an open location it(mine) works fine, same as the 334 if WAAS is not set as "required" mine never has lost signal. As far as I can tell it is identical to the new model (5300), there is a software update available at Lowrance's HSOforum that I did to mine.
  3. I bought the aqua vu spc80 this winter and had a blast with it the one time I used it. It's the new spool series which is a very nice way to store the cable, and has a color LED screen. Also bought a manual tripod, best $15 I spent. You will find that once you set the camera direction you really don't move it anyway. Disadvantge of this model is the battery life isn't as good. It comes with a smaller battery than the othe models and only lasts for a couple of hours, they do include the 12 volt power cord adapter though. I am thinking of selling mine, now that the ice season is pretty well over for me I'm thinking I want a new color graph in my boat. I'll sell the whole package for $470, used one weekend looks brand new, including the manual tripod. Anyone interested let me know.
  4. Just tell the farmer you have to have it below 15% moisture because it will be used in a corn stove and you should be fine. Corn harvested directly out of the field is usually at the low end 17% to the high end 25% moisture in the fall, then dried in a drying setup or at the local elevator. What has worked really good for me is corn left over the winter as a food plot for wildlife then harvested in the spring, comes out at around 14% and burns great! I have had a corn stove in my house for 10 yrs., this winter it is supplying about 75% of my heat. I am thinking about updating to a new stove this summer also.
  5. I just ordered a Aqua Vu SPC-80, I really don't know much about them but I like the idea of a "sunlight viewable" LCD monitor. I do plan on having it in my boat in the summer and hopefully be able to use it some then too. Has anybody used one or have any comments on them?
