  2. I own a 2005 500 auto Arctic Cat and love it. I bought it new non-current in December of 2005. It came with a 2 year bumper to bumper warranty and the 2006 models come with a 3 year bumper to bumper warranty. Look at the rack system on the Arctic Cats and I think you'll love it. The built in reciever hitch is nice and the suspension and travel is great. I have a plow on mine and only used it a couple of times this year but it did a great job plowing, no chains needed. Look at the accessories you can get for the Arctic Cats as well they provide an assortment of great add ons including a clam fish house that mounts to the rack system and folds over the entire ATV its around $469. I just bought the Auger mount and its great. Keeps the auger secure and is easy to take off with two pins. What ever you decide, all the machines on the market are great and you'll be glad you got one especially if we have another winter like this one.

    Auger mounts

I just installed the Arctic Cat Auger Mount, its the tube and it mounts onto the multiple rack system with 4 pins. The auger head simply rests on two rubber holders and then you pull two velcro straps to secure it. It is so solid and it doesn't move at all. When you get to your spot undo the two velcro straps pull the auger out of the plastic tube and your drilling. It is an arctic cat accessory so I don't know if you can use it on other machines but if you have an arctic cat go for it you'll love it. J
  4. Here's what I have got into my new 2005 non-current Arctic Cat 500 automatic. I just got it end of December. $5,299.00 for the Cat $160.00 Front Bumper $449.00 Winch $483.00 60 inch Arctic Cat curl plow (Lime) The dealer installed all accessories and gave me a free arctic cat windshield. Out the door after tax the total was: $6,926.87 P.S. I don't know how quite the other brands are when idling but I noticed yesterday this thing just purrrrs!
  5. I just bought a 2005 Arctic Cat 500 brand new. I spent an enormous time researching all the different atv's and I feel good about my decision. I primarily will be using it for ice fishing. The things that sold me on the Arctic Cat were the independent suspension, ground clearance, the ability to shift into 4 wheel drive on the fly, two year warranty on the 2005's bumber to bumber. And the pages and pages of accessories available for this ATV are amazing. Their speedrack system is simply pulling a pin and your ready to attach or detach any accessory in seconds. They have a fishouse (Clam) accessory attachment that is so cool. It sits on the side of the ATV and folds out leaving your ATV inside the clam and plenty of room to fish two comfortably ($449.00). This same clam accessory is available in Camo for hunting ($519.00). In addition all the Arctic Cats come with a built in reciever hitch so just take it off your truck and slip it into the wheeler thats great! I got a plow and a winch put on it and what a great set-up. The 500 has plenty of power and a smooth running machine. If your looking for a deal there are dealers with remaining 2005's and you'll get the two year warranty with them. If you go with the 2006's you'll get the three year warranty. Oh, you can lock the front differential in with just a flip of a switch. Good luck if you have any other questions let me know.
  6. I live in St. Cloud, but location really wouldn't be an issue for me.
  7. I have two male english springers and they both are 1 year old. I want to send them to a gun dog trainer but would really like some feedback on where to bring them. Since I have both of them, the price tag is going to double. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks J
  8. Fishman, You're going to want to bring a wrist brace! I've never caught so many walleyes as I did on my trip through Kay Air. I was up there about 6 years ago and we had great success fishing close to shorelines and around islands. We jigged and brought in salted minnows which worked great. See if he'll let you fly the plane. I obviously did pretty well if I'm writing you this. Have fun and try trolling the bay right off of where the cabins are. I caught a monster northern in there. Have fun and let us know how you did. J
  9. Hey, Minnesota Muskie sorry to hear of your loss. Your not alone. My mom was killed in a car accident 5 years ago on April 2 and I feel your pain. So it is really important to tell your moms and grandma's and any other moms you know how much you love them and how much they mean to you. MM, I think of it this way: My mom is always fishing with me and sometimes I think she might even be helping me. It sucks that it takes tragedy in our lives to truly realize how much we really love someone. Enough said if you ever need anything just give me a shout.
  10. Thanks guys for the great advice! The Suzuki 4 strokes are cheaper I believe, hows the motor compare to the other 4 strokes?
  11. I'm going to buy a new boat and was wondering if any of you guys have any good or bad advice when it comes to the Smoker Craft. I'm specifically looking at the 172 Millentia. It has an awesome interior layout! In my opinion its layed-out better then Crestliner or Lund in comparable models, but the resale scares me. I'm I right or wrong? Thanks for the thoughts J.
  12. I'm looking forward to getting on the water with my own rig but I must say it is becoming a hard decision. I've never owned my own boat and I need some real advice without a sales pitch. I'm willing to spend $15,000-$20,000 for the boat, motor, and trailer. I've been looking at Crestliners, Lunds, Smoker Crafts, Sylvans, and Starcrafts. There all 17-18 ft. and have 115 hp on up. What if any advice do you have on these boats. Secondly, what is your opinion on 2 stroke vs. 4 stroke? If you could by an optimax 2 stroke or a 4 stroke which one would you buy? What brand and why? Lastly, for the money I want to spend should I buy new or used? If you guys have boats you just love or are dreaming of buying let me know the model in this post. Thanks J.
