Vantage trolling motor safety system

Apparently quite a few Vantage owners have sent their spendy trolling motors to Davey Jone's locker by hitting the throttle with the powerhead deployed. I know I've forgotten to raise mine before taking off and I guess I've been lucky because I've caught the error before snapping the bracket. One guy in the Brainerd area 'lost' two motors in the same season. Which brings me to the subject of this post. A MinnKota repair 'guru' (also in the Brainerd area) has invented an interlock system that locks out your gas motor ignition if the Vantage powerhead is deployed more than 2 inches....true [PoorWordUsage] insurance. I may be violating board policy by giving the guy's contact information but I think it's important (may be edited out) so here it is.....Jim Wentworth's Fish 'Lectronics south of Pequot Lakes on 371. I'm going to have him put one on my rig before I drop mine in the drink and kick myself.

I lost one up in canada a couple years ago. Not a good feeling.

what's he charging now for that over ride set up? When I checked wit him it was over $200 but that was right after he came up with the concept.

By the way, how long has Jim been at that location? I just noticed it today when I was driving by.
