SpikeRoberts
Here's an intersting read from the DNR's publication the Conservation Volunteer. I was first attracted to the story because, as a boy, I biked down to the very store from my grandparents house and regularly saw the very same Pike the author recounts in his opening paragraphs. As I read on, I found it to be informative and well-written. Enjoy.http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/volunteer/mayjun03/pike.html
Aquaman01
Very good reading. My personal slot for eating is 18" - 24". I grew up in Vermont, fishing from shore for mostly panfish, stream trout, bullheads and LM Bass. I'd read articles about Northern Pike, and knew the state record was 37" or so. I'd daydream of hooking into one of these beasts and landing it after an exhausting fight. When I moved to Minnesota and started angling in earnest, not all that long ago, I knew the possibility was very real that I would someday soon make daylight out of that 25 year old daydream. To date my personal best is 24" - not much compared to anglers who have lived here their whole lives, but it's good to me. This year I'm shooting for 30". I hope when I progress up into the 40's that there are still some to be had. Thanks, Spike.------------------Aquaman<')}}}}}><{Peace and Fishes
