  1. I have an Alumacraft 185 Tournament Sport with a wrap around windshield. I currently have a Lowrance LM522c that is on a JohnyRay with a quick disconnect. The mount fails to hold the unit in place when I hit BIG waves. I will replace the Jonny Ray mount and was wondering what mount any of you have used and has proved to HOLD the GPS in place even when hitting BIG waves. Also have any of you managed to mount it with a mount that can swivel which would also you to see the 1198 from the bow of the boat? I guess I am justifying purchasing the 1198 if I can use is for the entire boat. The 998 looks good but the problem is there side by side in the store and the 1198 stands out. BUT if mounting the 1198 is an issue the 998 might be the way I have to go. PLEASE do not turn this into a Humminbird VS a Lowrance issue. I have made up my mind and am sticking to it. If anyone has EXPERIENCE mounting these please let me know I would rather pay you than the dealer, however if I can’t find someone to do it do any of you know a dealer that does exceptional work? I guess there are three issues… 1. Mounting the unit head 2. Mounting the transducer as I have read that the SI can be negatively impacted by the transducer not being level and have a clear path. 3. What mount/RAM to buy to hold this in place and perhaps be able to rotate. Lastly… I will have a Lowrance LM522c for sale, make an offer, please note I cannot sell it until I have the 1198 mounted. Thank you, TJB TJBAUER19 @ Hotmail DOT com
  2. Alumacraft Dominator 165 VS 175 & ETEC VS Yamaha I am looking at the Dominator SPORT MUST be a 2009 or 2010 jump seats. I can't decide between the 165 or 175. I am also pondering the ETEC VS Yamaha. I wanted a tiller but the SPORT was the deal maker with the domestic CEO and board of directors. I want to do a lot of trolling on Pepin and other large bodies PENDING the gas prices. I have a 3/4 ton so pulling is not a problem. I also have an oversized garage so space is not an issue. I do not do a lot of casting so the deck space does not seem to be an issue. I do not like the looks of the rod box between the pass through windshield on the 165 however on the 175 it appears to not be flush with the front deck as well. Can anyone offer an opinion on this? BOAT… I understand the ETEC has a promotion going get a 90HP for the price of a 75HP (165) or get a 130HP for the price of a 115HP (175) plus a 5 year warranty. This is a good option if you think ETEC is the way I should go. Keep in mind I will be doing more trolling than pulling the kids around the lake. (I THINK) I understand that Yamaha has a promotion as well 6 year warranty. MOTOR… As far as the ETEC VS Yamaha what are the maintenance costs? Oil for the ETEC VS service on the Yamaha. PLEASE understand I am NOT a mechanical person. I am a computer geek and mechanical traits are something that was not passed down. Winterization the ETEC seems pretty straight forward even I would be willing to give it a shot. Price… If 90HP is the MAX 165 then the price is going to be lower. But… I like to think my now 5 and 8 yr old will like fishing as much as I do and want to keep going so as the grown I do not want to then have to move up to the 175. Resale… I know I have even made the initial purchase and I am already looking ahead. Well I know me and at least I can admit it. Because the kids are young I do not know what kind of interests/sports they will participate in and I have looked at used boats and a lot of people claim not to have the time or they are simply downsizing to the tiller model which if you recall at the being I indicate was my first option. Lastly WERE TO BUY… This is where you all come in to play. PRICE yes for sure. OPTIONS you bet also because I am not mechanical installation of options. I do not want some high school kid installing me stereo or wiring my trolling motor while learning on the job. SERVICE if need who is timely turnaround and does a quality job the first time. Feel free to email me as well if you have any additional information that will help me make my decision. tjbauer19 @ Hotmail .com
  3. I have 2 Calm Fish Trap Pro's one has never been used and the other user once. They are the new style with link a D door. want to trade or 1 for part $'s? My son is getting bigger and we will need more room. I was thinking of linking them when I bought them but with the 10 inch holes I would rather have him on the same side as me. Thanks

  6. IFINDER EXPEDITION C OLOR RE: MAX SPEED OK I have played with it for about 3 hours now. I think I have most of it but HOW DO I RESET THE MAX SPEED? I am in advance mode. ANY ONE....
  7. I think I will send it back but I did order it from Jolly Ann Marine. Wade has been AWESOME to work with and the price was GOOD. I really like the Expedition. Wade said he does not think it will be out until mid Feb.
  8. GOOD points, one thing you did miss the EXP only has 1000 waypoints.(MORE THAN PLENTY) BETTER RESOLUTION! I called and am on the list for the EXPPEDITION C PLUS.
  9. UPDATE... I ordered the Lowrance iFinder Hunt C plus today as well as the Lakemaster MN chip. I will give you a review in a few days. On a side note I see that there is an update available as of 1/9 for this unit. Anyone have any ideas what this means and how you do the update? Thanks to ALL of you for your help. Oh yeah, Thank you to Wade at Jolly Ann! Best deal around.
  10. I just ordered this unit today the Hunt C plus as well as the MN Lakemasters chip form Jolly Ann. What will I have to do to complete the upgrade? Thank you in advance.
  11. READ THE FINE PRINT.... Must of them will have a deductible, in my opinion it is NOT worth it.
  12. Also I know several p[laces sell them. Any recommendations on a place to buy at a good price? Or better yet can you email mail me as to what you paid for your unit and include unit you bought the PLUS or NOT. Thanks guys! tjbauer19@hotmail.com
  13. Ok now help me out again PLEASE... Do I need the PLUS? From what I can tell I get a CD/Software, MMC/SDI and a card reader. If I do not need the software and I have an MMC/SDI reader on my laptop do I care about this? Also how much are the lakemaster chips? I see 1 for 99.00 that includes Mille Lacs with several others. Then I see just 1 chip that is Mille Lacs only for 69 is this the same map lay that is on the 99 one?
  14. I would like a hand held color unit. Lowrance iFinder Hunt Color or the Garmin GPSMAP 76CS I want to use it for both driving and fishing lake structures with the lakemasters chip. Any ideas, pros or cons to either?
  15. Quote: Zelek, So I made us of the Fishing MN deal from Jolly Ann Marine and purchased a Lowrance Ifinder H2OC with the Lakemaster chip. A unit that takes chips is much more versatile. I also got the Plus package so I can make topo maps of the places I hunt, download them to a chip and pop it in the GPS. What did you pay for this unit, if you don't mind me asking?
  16. I like the Fish Trap Pro the best.
  17. I am both a retailer and a distributor, I can tell you that I will give you a much better deal on an item that I do not stock multiples of if you pay in full before I order your product. Why, because I do not have to stock it or multiples of it and shipping and receiving products that take labor or hours stocking. I also do not have to take money out of my pocket or business line to stock multiple items. I will however consider supply and demand into any purchase. Yes this will benefit retailers/distributors when NEW product is released, but remember if stocked outdated inventory or demoed equipment is leftover that is where the consumer will benefit. Shop around and get the best deal you can.

  19. Either way you still need a VEX.... That's fine I guess I will just keep out fishing you. This is the guy that keeps asking how far off the bottom are they now!

    Rope Lights

I had 2 strings hooked up to 1 battery that was not even fully charged and it went for over 48 hours
  21. Well I looked and looked and decided NOT to buy the 4 stroke. I emailed, called and PM'ed several people on the issue and they all pretty much said the same thing. This is just my opinion and why I made my decision. I was concerned about the oil leaking out of the crank case. If the auger happens to roll to the cylinder side you WILL lose oil out of the crank case. How much??? I was mainly looking for an auger to be light weight portable and something that I did not have to be extra careful with. I take exceptional care of my things but I need something that I can put on top of the Pro and drill 30 or 40 wholes while the other guy stays and clean the wholes to find the fish. Like I said that is why I decided not to go with it.
  22. I have tried 3 different places that sell these and no one has returned my call. (Nils) If I can't get them to call me back when trying to purchase how will it work if I have a warranty issue? Not bashing just asking!
