  1. When pulling plugs, the depth doesn't change for going to smaller line than 10# fireline. The depth curves actually are correct for 10/4 fireline and smaller.
  2. I too have switched to using PowerPro over Fireline. I never had any problems with Fireline other than it frayed quite a bit. For ice fishing, the fraying caused worse freezing problems with the line and more ice build up. I almost exclusively use super lines for walleye fishing. I do use some segmented LeadCore for pulling plugs but I also long line with super line for plugs. Its not that I don't like using mono lines, I just had problems with the mono getting memory. In the wind, which never stops blowing here in Mobridge, the mono would coil off the spool and make a mess when I opened the bail. Another thing I have done in snaggy areas is used superline with a mono leader.
  3. I currently live in Mobridge. I have lived here for just about 6 years. I work for the power company here.
  4. The weather has been changing so much and we just haven't had a good stretch of warm weather, so the fish are still fairly scattered. But, on a good note in about the last week they walleyes have been schooling up a little. They have been biting on Lindy rigs and spinners tipped with either crawlers or minnows. The depths have been varying but I have had my best luck in about 12-15 feet of water. The biggest problem so far this year has been catching fish under 20" to fill your limit. Fish over 20" have been very plentiful this spring.
  5. Lets rephrase the question a little but in this instance it is really the same question. "What does it cost you per month for happiness?"
  6. Right now thats a good reason to bring your girlfriend with so you can have an extra line.
  7. I would think it would work. If all else, mount up the reels and give it a try. You definately won't break an Ugly Stik, they are just tough rods. What's the worst that could happen? You might not like how it works or it might not work well and then you are back to the point of buying different rods. Then you will know for sure.
  8. For the enjoyment of the sport, I hope they get around to allowing 2 lines. I live in SD and we are allowed 2 lines for open water. It makes a day on the water by yourself a slight bit more enjoyable. And unless the fishing is outstanding, it allows you to keep a lure in the water at all times.
  9. Definately way more than my wife would be happy about and enough to make sure I stay happy. If you exclude the gas, which is probably the biggest part, I spend about $40-$50 a month on fishing. If that is the cost of keeping from going nuts, its money well spent.
  10. I know this is a little late, but the next time you need a Mobridge Walleye fishing report let me know. I live right in Mobridge and can generally give some advice that at least won't lead you in a wrong direction. So far this early ice off fishing has been very good near Mobridge. I know of a 9lb. and an 11 lb. eye that have come out. I think the walleye fishing will probably slow up for the next couple of weeks because I know some people have been out netting smelt so the run must be starting soon.
  11. The 2007 Navionics North chip has new data on Oahe. Unfortunately they also missed some of the structure that was previously shown on the 2006 chip. Don't get me wrong, the 2007 chip is very good and if you didn't use a previous year of chip you won't ever notice the few minor differences.
  12. Last spring I used the Indian Memorial landing once, you just had to be careful going out of the bay. I looked and I am pretty sure that it could be used right now. I wish they would do some work to that ramp being as it is so protected from the wind. Actually the water is up high enough to use the east low water ramp at Indian Creek state park.
  13. I would say Oahe is up about 8 feet over last fall. I live in Mobridge right on Oahe. We have an old railroad grade near town and judging by how much stuck out of the water last fall and by how much it is just under the water it is about an 8 foot difference. Most of the chips show sunken grades and similar on Oahe, its the old oak trees just below the surface that will get you.
  14. I am pretty interested in this boat. It looks very clean and like a good boat. I would like to talk to you a little more about it if possible. I could come down Sunday to look at it if possible.
  15. The walleyes are really biting here in Mobridge right now. They have been for about the past week. Most any presentation is producing nice fish but pulling plugs seems to be the best. The fish are nice and fat and most people are catching those 17"-19" fish. This is a nice change from the tremendously slow winter we had.
