  1. I filled a 3" pvc about half way with clear roofing caulk an embedded the transducer in it. I didn't wait overnight though, maybe I should give it another try. There is only a 9" x 9" area that is open to the hull and it also has a bilge pump and a drain plug in there too, so there was really only one place to mount it without tearing out the floor. I talked to Lowrance this morning and their records indicate that my new transducer must have been a fluke since they never made one with that connector and pin configuration. They are overnighting(Monday) a new one free of charge. I guess the new owners really are taking their reputation seriously. I guess I'm fishing old school on this vacation. I wonder what will try to screw with my next trip.
  2. I tried it and it didn't work, it took about 3 or 4 minutes to get a depth reading and the sonar returns were unintelligible. I did find a replacement transducer(HST-WSBL/106-72) and just spent three hours driving and two hours mounting it and routing the wires. Unfortunately Lowrance uses that same part number for another unit as well, because the connector doesn't fit my unit(LCX-25C). I am really starting to wonder why I keep buying stuff from these guys.
  3. I convinced my Wife to come up to the cabin on our vacation and I just found my transducer broken off from the transom mount. Can I just epoxy/silicone it to the hull? It is an '86 Lund Mr Pike and there is a spot about 10" forward of the transom and 6" to the starboard side that I could either silicone or epoxy it to. The transducer is a Lowrance HST-WSBL from an LCX-25C. I realize that I would lose my water temperature sensor, but is there another reason that this might not work? I've tried searching the net, but there are as many people that say it's works great as there are people that disagree with them.
  4. That's one thing that I miss about Minnesota. In Co the water is owned by whomever owns the shoreline. You have to be very careful when you're wading streams.
  5. I used one all of last season with no issues, I have a Jiffy Pro4. I can't imagine there being an issue with the powerhead getting damaged, assuming that you aren't trying to catch air off of ice ridges or anything like that. I did use a bungee cord to keep the powerhead from rotating.
  6. It's held upon mine for three seasons. Adam
  7. I believe that Vexilar makes a "rebuild" kit, I think it replaces the brushes. People say that it works wonders.
  8. I use Sorel Dominators, they don't make them anymore so you'd have to buy used. Mine have lasted me 20 years and my feet have never been cold. I bought my wife a pair of the warmest Baffins they made last year and they only kept her warm for a couple of hours. The Chinese just don't seem to be able to make a decent boot, they look cool but they either leak or don't keep you warm for very long.
  9. I am going to install the conduit and pull the wire for an a/c disconnect and I need to know what size wire to pull. I know that the wire size is smaller than it would be for a regular 45 amp circuit, but I don't know what size. I have an Electrician friend that does all of the connections for me and I need to get this done today. Adam
  10. I use my SnoSuit, the original, Made in Crosslake Mn version. I have yet to get cold. I even had a guy poke his head out of his shelter to let me know that it was -20, I had no idea. Adam
  11. I've never had an issue with my Pro-4 freezing, I've used it down to -23 without issue. It is a lot heavier than the Mora I'd been using for twenty some years, but the motor on that unit was really starting to slow down. The weight on the Jiffy wouldn't bother me so much if it were a little more balanced. Having to carry it with two hands gets very cumbersome. Adam
  12. I find myself using a bobber most of the time. I like that I can pick the rod up without the bait moving, that way I can have the rod in my hand when I get the strike.I can see a bobber way better than a rod tip too, especially when they lift the bait. We can't use live bait on too many icefishable lakes here, so that's not a concern. AdamT
  13. It looks like Marcum is eating Lowrance's lunch. It's what the X67C should have evolved into. I wonder if they are making this model in the US too? If it is, then I am going to have a very [PoorWordUsage] off wife. It really should have a GPS too at this price point. AdamT
  14. I'd be surprised if we'll see any of these new shelters down here in Colorado. It looks like Frabill has been watching us mod our huts and has gotten a few ideas. AdamT
