Hi, I just got back from Lac also. But we fished open bay. There was some slush but not to bad. Walleye were slugish but got a few. We accessed the ice from Open Bay Lodge. Great people there! Having never been to that part of Lac the Family of the owners turned us in the right direction and helped us out. It was nice to fish an area of Lac that was devoid of crowds. Roger Mayer.

Hi, Ice conditions for lac Des Mille Lacs is a foot of ice with slush then about a foot of snow. I'm going again on Sunday and will report on how the fishing is. I'll be fishing off of Pine point and will let you all know how it was. I only live an hour from the lake! Roger Mayer.

Thanks! We caught, if I remember right, afew 29 inchers and 2 30 inch walleye that night but this one was the biggest. Sad thing was I never measured this fish. Was busy getting pictures of it and did a realease picture. Once that was done I looked at my buddy and we both said at the same time......We didn't measure it!! Here's a facial shot of the same fish.

Hi CrappieTom, I live just north of Minnesota. Halfway between The border and Thunder Bay Ontario. I prefer a 10 inch hole. The pike and lake trout are quite large. Since I have been living on this lake (last 12 years) there has been three times where I could not get a lake trout through a ten inch hole. Also a few times where the trout barely fit through. Therefore I use the ten inch hole on these lakes. When fishing walleye and other species an eight inch hole is fine. Roger Mayer.
