  1. hitch receiver mount bumpers front & back if available..
  2. $40 is a steal it if works, new blades will cost $40 themselves...I'd be a little hesitant using that on a ATV/Sled battery, could drain it pretty quickly then you're screwed starting your ATV/Sled....no fumes is nice in a perm shack...for the convenience, I'd just buy a separate 12 volt battery for it...You'de then be $100 into it, but have a rock solid perm shack auger...
  3. I guess we'll find out next year from original Ion owners...
  4. Where is this replace the battery in 3-4 year information coming from? (people who don't own Ion's) There have already been countless original Ion owners who've responded that their battery runs just as strong today as it did the day they bought it...this is year #3 for them...I'm on year #2 and same thing, just as strong... Ion battery engineers have said the battery lasts 700+ charge cycles....I don't know how much you get out on the ice, but lets say for easy math & arguments sake a ridiculous 100 days per ice fishing season, that's easily 7+ years or 28,000+ holes drilled before the battery will START to lose effectiveness....again this is based off of 40 holes through 24" of ice... If you drill more than 40 holes an outing, either get a spare battery to max out at 80 holes or buy a gas auger....
  5. If only drilling less than 10 holes, then the Electra Lazer is probably the cheapest option that will get the deal done because you can drill a few tip up holes outside, then it can run on your perm house 12 volt with cables to drill the inside holes. Or get the Ion on clearance and also use it if you want to run and gun a bit outside....I've seen them below $350 on c list.
  6. Why would I add a 12" extension, the auger comes with one....you can get a 24" extension if your panties start riding up when drilling a hole...replace/recharge battery cells....both are options that ultimately do the same thing.... So you're saying gas augers have never had recalls? Lol, you're a joke, stop sniffing your auger fumes...
  7. I've always said, if you drill more than 40 holes then a gas auger wins out, but less than 40 holes and gas augers don't stand a chance...get a spare battery and an electric wins out over gas for 95% of ice anglers...those who drill more than 80 holes a day is pretty rare...
  8. Go read before you reply.... I specifically said " IF I had a battery issue in 5 years I would bring it to a place like Batteries+ and get it recharged". I'm confident it will be a cheap easy fix for them by then with pretty much all battery powered tools and yard equipment exclusively use Lithium now. $200 for an Ion battery? Msrp for a spare battery is $150, you're a sucker if you pay msrp for anything nowadays as a 30 second search online saves you $$ and no sales tax, or wait a few weeks and get one on clearance for around $110...$110 over 5-7 years is cheap. The short auger joke is just plain stupid....why carry a 48" auger for the 1st half of the ice season when it's not needed, once the ice gets thicker mid January/ February then I throw my extension on, saves on weight and makes it easier to handle/store... The more you reply, the more you lose this argument....
  9. With NiCad batteries on their way out and most everything moving to Lithium, I'm confident these batteries will be "rechargeable" in the near future by places like Batteries +
  10. . I would expect nothing less from the 2 time SL Sunfish/Crappie Division 1st place finisher....
  11. Um... You should probably figure out what " Mechanically Inclined" means before you try using it as an insult in an instance like this....lol nice try
  12. lol, Really? hey, look at that, I just drilled another few holes without doing a thing besides lifting up my auger and hitting a button...better make sure you have gas in the tank, make sure it's choked properly, oh dump, my recoil didn't go all the way back in last time, i'll just pull harder so it snaps back in, oh dump, my cord broke, let me spend another hour taking off my bootlace and Macgyvering it to my auger...hey what's that guy doing over there? it looks like he's drilling some holes with a green colored auger, yet I don't hear the engine?...I don't see the cloud of smoke?...why isn't he letting the engine warm up? wow, he's done already and back to fishing...ok, so let's see if this shoelace fix worked...hmm, it didn't start on the 1st pull...wait a second, my auger always starts on the 1st pull..few more pulls...oh wait, I didn't choke it, ok, choke is out, now give her hell...dump! i broke the bootlace now...i only have one left..ok, another hour rigging my last bootlace up...hey that guy is leaving now with his limit, I wish I was.....wait what is that? is that a burn hole in my flipover fabric? sob, I must have put the auger down too close to the fabric and the hot exhaust tip melted it....."Serenity now!"
  13. The rocker switch "can" retain an electrical charge if the battery is connected and eventually overload and start on fire! This has already been reported by a couple of owners, scary to think your garage/house could burn down due to your Auger sitting in it...
  14. keeping the Ion battery warm is an afterthought now that I've had it for awhile...as soon as I put the auger back on my ATV rack, the battery slips right off and into my warming case...simple and the $150 battery price for the Ion is msrp, you can find them on clearance in the March/April time frame...
  15. In the 2 seconds it took me to type that ":lol" reply, I instantly drilled another hole with my Ion...
  16. Reverse is not needed in my opinion, it's just another thing that can break (The reverse switch most likely has flimsy wires soldered to the motor to reverse the polarity, solder breaks and you're screwed on the ice)....scooping take all of 30 seconds and you're getting the slush out of the hole, not pushing it underneath where it can just easily come back up the hole...plus they've come up with some cool new scoop designs that get's 90% of the slush out on the 1st attempt. I like the KISS methodology for stuff used in extreme weather (Keep it Simple Stupid) I felt the Strikemaster seemed put together rather flimsily with thin plastic, I liked the ruggedness of the Ion better, but just my opinion. Plus the Ion is 2 lbs lighter.
  17. we could both argue until the cows come home, if I drilled more than 40 holes, Yes, I'd have a gas auger, but I don't and no gas auger comes even close to the convenience my Ion delivers. No mixing gas or checking oil levels, no fouled plug, no smells, no pull starting, no torn pull cords, or broken recoil springs, no warm up, no hot exhaust pipe, no leaking gaskets, no cracked fuel tank, no worrying if I put it down on the proper side, I simply get to my spot and instantly drill my hole, oh it's also 5 lbs lighter than the lightest gas auger... Modern day lithium battery packs are alot easier and cheaper to work on than the original Craftsman/Ryobi/Dewalt packs from a few years ago...heck, you can even buy replacement cells off hsolist now and do it yourself... my last little jab - Everybody says their gas auger ALWAYS starts on the 1st or 2nd pull every time...
  18. to each their own...while you're choking and repeatedly pull starting, warming up your gas auger in cold temps, I already drilled my hole and catching fish... and if I do have any issues in 5 years, I bring it down to a Batteries+ store, and they replace the cells inside...
  19. lots of initial Ion guys running year 3 on their battery with zero problems or loss in charge power...I'm on year 2 and running just fine... If you drill less than 40 holes an outing get an Ion or Strikemaster Lithium, if you drill more than that, then a gas auger is a no brainer, it's pretty simple...
  20. the Ion runs perfectly fine in cold weather, you just need to keep the battery warm (like any electric auger) I have the ion battery case and just keep in in my flipover...works just fine...
  21. when you install the seat rail, install it a little lower than suggested, this will cause the seats to angle back a bit, installing at the set location angles the seats forward causing you to want to slide off...
  22. I gotta say these are not the experiences I have had with Marcum, they typically take a day or two to respond to my emails, but they do always respond..
