  1. I've upgraded to a 76csx, but when I had my 60c I was having similar trouble (and long boot times). I was told to upgrade the firmware as sometime satellite orbits are changed or renamed... so I downloaded the most recent software version for the unit from the Garmin site and it worked great after that.
  2. Sorry you can't see the video.... try here: Been very pleased with the ICE 55, love the instant no guess depth reading... and they sure play nice with other flashers, although we've had a few minor issues getting them to play nice together, but if one guy is on narrow and one on wide beam they seem good. I REALLY like the 6-colour option...
  3. When I saw the Eric Haataja 38" medium/moderate at Fleet Farm last month, I bought the last four they had. I am SUPER impressed with the rod for dead-sticking greenbacks and trout... super slow tip, moderate through the last third and then right into solid backbone by the most forward guide.
  4. That is super cool! Pretty sure the pin goes through the leaf spring shackle, that's the only way the springs would be able to do their job...
  5. WOW - that would make quick work of the 48" Lake Winnipeg ice!!
  6. ......but they're sure a riot! I got a chance to sneak out with fellow HSO Member Steve and Darrin Bohonis (out local St. Croix & Humminbird rep) over the holiday break to see if we could crack 26". We fished the Parkland region of Manitoba, and although we didn't ultimately bust the 26" barrier, we came close... and we had fun trying! The bite was pretty consistent, we even got a few double headers. A small jig and plastics (Gulp smelt, Slurpee and glow Realistic mainly) under 3" were the ticket. When it would slow down we'd size down the bait, and let them flutter on a deadstick near bottom... got a few on Bro Bugs! Looking forward to a few more trout outings this season, but then next trip will HAVE to be the big lake... need some big greeeeeeen walleye! Below are a few pics, plus the video... happy new year!
  7. Thanks all! We're sure having fun documenting some of our trips, and really appreciate the kind words and encouragement! The most productive presentation for us this trip was 1/8 or 1/16oz jigs with a gulp or slurpee minnow. We also had some action on the smallest size Lindy Darter, but by far plastics. Jigging outproduced deadstick by a wide margin... and we'd find that if we reeled up fairly aggresivley when we marked a fish, they would chase and hit... hold it still or vibrate it and our success rate went down. It was a little strange, other trips jigging little cleos are typically our best bet, but there was little interest with those this time around. Cheers!
  8. Have to say, the darter is quickly becoming a favorite. It has worked like a charm for calling in both trout and walleye, and caught too... looking forward to using it more...
  9. My buddy Steve just picked up a Stikemaster 3hp on Friday. Got it out of the box, assembled and fueled. Pulled the recoil, the rope wouldn't go back in. Took the shroud off, wound it in manually and tried again... same result. He's taking it back to exchange tomorrow. This seems to be a bit of a trend? That's a little concerning!
  10. "How do we leave when the bites so good?" lol, ya - the universal dilemma that has got how many of us in trouble with our wives?! Does that ever look like fun, great video!
  11. Hi all, The ice up here in Manitoba is coming in really well! Looks like we could have some terrific conditions on Lake Winnipeg very soon, and the Red is already starting to go strong. While we're waiting for the big lake and big walleyes, we decided to head a few hours out of Winnipeg for another favorite hard water target... trout! Pretty amazing couple of days, which included losing a rod down the hole, and then "finding" it a while later, fish attached! We took some video, hope you enjoy... Wishing you all a safe, fun and productive hard water season... and if you find yourself heading up to "the great white north", drop me or Steve a line!
  12. WOW... nice! Those heads shots, are they steelhead or bows? HUGE if they're bows!
  13. That's terrific... the lake has been STELLAR the last couple of years. Drop myself or Hookedmag a PM, maybe we can put a convoy together
  14. Hey... good to see you here! Looks like a fantastic site, can't wait to share some hard water stories!
