  1. Nice looking weave! What type of jig do you use?
  2. Like bltbowhunter stated, On an ice rod you will not notice any difference. Yes - recoils are lighter, but on a 28" ice rod with 4 or 5 running guides, you can not tell the difference. "I think that recoils are kind of a gimmick." Gimmick - on ice rods I would agree. They do have a time and place for other applications, just not ice rods. Recoils ice up at the same rate as SS wire guides..so no benefit there. Yes - recoils will pop back in place if bent....if you put the amount of stress on the rod to get a recoil to bend....you probably broke the blank IMHO save your money and use the SS wire guides
  3. Here is a static blank test of the two blanks. The MHX is the Black and Flo Green blank. The DH Al Dente is the Camo hydrographic blank. Start No WT 1/4 oz 1/2 oz You can see that the DH is faster. A noodle blank to me is extra fast and the Al Dente fits the bill. I would consider the MHX mod to mod fast at best.
  4. I have wondered this myself ever since MH "barrowed?" the power noodle name. I personally do not use the TB power noodle blanks. I prefer the DH Al Dente. IMHO it's faster, has a better back bonefor hook set and is more durable. So..on my last MH order I picked one up to do a comparison. The photos speak for the self's. If I'm going to take the time to build a custom rod it's going to be on a good blank. For $19.99 you can have a far superior blank and $24.99 you can have that same blank is some supper sweet hydro-graphic colors The MHX is the Black and Flo Green blank. The DH Al Dente is the Sweet Camo hydrographic blank (yet another reason I prefer the DH blank) Start No WT 1/4 oz 1/2 oz You can see that the DH is faster. A noodle blank to me is extra fast and the Al Dente fits the bill. I would consider the MHX mod to mod fast at best.
  5. 6'10" MXF Spinning rod - Custom carbon grips - AT Microwave guides - Alps RS - JT Dragon Scale wrap
  6. I'm getting packed and ready to go. I have wanted to make this trip for years but this is the first time it has fit the schedule. Looking forward to meeting some new people and learning some new things.
  7. You will have builders remorse with this blank. Not that it is a bad blank (I have one) its that it will not fit what you are looking for. This blank is a all a round lake fishing blank. Better suited for rigging and jigging, but leaning more to the rigging end. A lot of the XSW,XSB and RX7 Batson blanks are now discontinued (along with my favorite river walleye blank of all time)to make room for two new lines that are being released as I type this at ICAST. A New RX8 blank "IMMORTAL" and an all new RX9 "ETERNITY²". Price points TBA in the next few weeks.
  8. Batson REVS610MXF-SB or go get a Feather from Dusty and cut it down
  9. Looking good! Is the rear grip EVA?
  10. I like the guide wrap and color. Rust? I see a nice sized football on that tip wrap
