Converting a fishfinder for use on the ice

I want to convert my Fishmark 480 to use on the ice. Has anyone else done this with a fishfinder?? What did you do to convert it?? Will I be able to use the transducer I have, or will I need something special?? Thanks in advance, Eric -
I took my brother, who does not fish very often, out to the lake on a Sunday morning. We are trolling around for about 30 minutes when he sets his hook and his rod is bent over. His drag is peeling and he says "Dude, I'm snagged". He hands me his rod so I can break the line. Just as I'm about to snap the line, I feel a head shake. After a twenty minute fight I bring up this pig. I'm ready to do a backflip into the water and he says "Is that a good sized fish??" A couple of pics and back in the water. (Sorry about the size)

Thanks for all of the input....Looks like I'm making a trip to Menards this weekend for some "1/4 plywood and paint.

It is a suitcase style, like a clam5600. My buddy has a clam 5600 and the base is plywood enclosed in plastic (I think). I want to be able to drag it easily across snow and ice, that is another consideration for the plastic covering.

I picked up shack at Cabelas where you put in you own floor. The instructions say to use plywood. Should I do any thing to treat the plywood to make it last longer?? I think it would be a good idea to put some sort of plastic on the bottom side to prevent water-logging. Any thoughts on this would be very helpful.

I have a 14 foot aluminium v-hull boat with a 9.9 outboard. I want to get a trolling motor, but need to know how many pounds of thrust is enough. Is 30 lbs of thrust enough to keep me on course in the Mississippi?? Any ideas would be great!!
