  1. i know this has been asked a million times, but a million and one can't hurt. would you guys still be willing to drive out? i don't think we've had a major heat wave to compromise the ice, should be fine into next week right? obviously goes lake by lake, but 2 ft of ice doesn't go to 15 inches in a week...
  2. I would ice fish 7 days out of 7 if I wasn't married. I'd stop just long enough to get more beer and PBJ sandwiches. and bait, since I don't have a clue about using plastics...
  3. can anyone posts some pics of these presentations and how you mean they need to be mounted correctly? I've never done plastics and have not a clue what to use or how to use it, I'd be very curious to see examples. this is an intriguing thread...
  4. GREAT. now I gotta unbox the new one and check it. I have a kid due any day now, my season is likely done. was hoping to just let that thing stay nice and neatly packed until next season. Oh well. I am curious to see if I can notice the difference...
  5. H2Outfitters is the official strikemaster repair place in big lake, south side of hwy 10, just a mile or two east of big lake, number is 763-262-2628. Bill and Tim, great guys, know their stuff.
  6. well color me impressed. that post fixed all of my concerns or doubts. thanks Steve, for making a statement. I agree, keeping the old hub is a generous resolution. it's just nice to hear Clam's side of it instead of social speculation that I myself was a part of as well. can't dispute the quality, it's a great shelter.
  7. If I can reel my lines up and be starting a fully packed truck in under 5 minutes, your hub could be gone in 60 seconds. It would never be me taking it, but I can't speak for the thousand other yahoos out there roaming the lake for such an easy score. they won't care about ice anchors, would likely click the releases and be on their way. Could get away with it all season long, but it takes one afternoon in mid march, and you are out a few hundred bucks. just my two cents. best of luck.
  8. Wow, this is a fun topic to track. obviously I'm in the middle of this as well from my past posts and waiting for a response to my warranty claim, but I really enjoy everyone's respectful perspective on this. you're all really good guys, I'd fish with any of you anytime. Oh wait, I am married. never mind, you guys just let me know how they bite.....
  9. these are all really great points, especially the last half dozen or so. the excitement of the new house and loving it puts a guy at a pretty high point, have that guy find out in a forum that he got hosed out of ceiling storage and drops him down, contacts clam and the send organizers and zipper pulls puts him back up top, and then finds out it's not only missing storage, it's smaller in every way and Clam had the chance to warn him about that earlier. that roller coaster will make people have a variety of reactions as shown in this thread. Point is, none of us are wrong for the way we feel about this, but all we can do is submit the warranty info and get a new house shipped to us. Hopefully Clam makes sure this never repeats itself.
  10. did he send his original one back? if so did they send him a box, come pick it up, what happened with that?
  11. got an email this morning, they acknowledged nothing and pawned it off as a "manufacture defect." I would say this situation is a little more than a defect. it's a mislabeled model being sold at a higher price point. I am disappointed in Clam. As said here by someone else, they want a ton of info to process a warranty claim. I'll do it, but I'm still pretty dissatisfied with the whole situation.
  12. the organizers they sent out as a replacement for the mesh are fine, if it was a flip over. the only straight across poles in the hub are the ones leading from the corner to the middle, at an upward angle, essentially eliminating a pie shaped piece of your shelter if you were to hang a coat from it. not to mention it hangs down 6-8 inches on its own, meaning if you installed it you'd have to duck under it. although nice on it's own, it is not a useable replacement for this hub. and they never acknowledged the smaller size, only said it was in place of the mesh. I've used mine a lot, and there are definitely applications where that 12" skirt would come in handy. if you bank it with good heavy slush from the holes, you don't need to worry about anchoring in <20 MPH wind. but with the shorter skirt, that becomes a little more difficult. I will be pushing for a replacement. I like to fish with friends and that extra 6" across would be really nice for elbow room/hole spacing.
  13. I can only imagine how [PoorWordUsage] Clam is gonna be that this thread is here and that word got out and they have a dump storm on their hands. What an embarrassment. Horrible QC.
  14. PLEASE post Clam's response here. I could deal with the mesh thing, not a big deal, but I did notice this weekend how short the skirt seemed and if my footage is actually smaller than another 4000t, I will be livid.
  15. Pelican is incredibly murky, adjust your presentation to account for it.
