  1. Cheap and easy, you could get some reflective tape and pin it to your fish house. You could also stick it to some fabric and have your wife sew the the two together onto your fish house. Just my thoughts
  2. I can't see how the jigging would work in deeper water. I spent $13 on a nice real and $8 on a really nice pole and just jig it the old fashioned way, cheeper. Just my opinion.
  3. Parafin Wax, available at most grocery stores. Goes on dry, stays dry, won't attract dust and dirt. Used to use it on toolbox slides before ball bearings were around in toolboxes. I think it works great.
  4. Thanks everyone for your replies. I will try some of these methods to see which I like. My problem is that I am always fishing different depths. As to why I use fireline, I like the fact that there is little to no memory in the line. I also like the sensitivity. Maybe it's just me. I am much happier using fireline than mono. I always had the problem with mono having all the line come off the spool, fireline doesn't do that.
  5. I was wondering if anyone has a fix for bobber stop knots sliding on my fireline? I have to tighten the knots every time I bring up the line. I don't have a depth finder/sonar to see where my jig is everytime I drop the line, so my only way of knowing is to attach my lead weight/depth finder every time I drop, but when I reel up is when it moves. Either way I'm never sure that I am at the right depth. Any info appreciated. Thanks
  6. You could try pulling the thermocoupler out and cleaning it with some fine sand paper. I am not sure if it will work but, I've tried it on my furnace in my house and it fixed the problem. I would buy a new before you try it just in case. I have heard that if they are acting up, it is just a matter of time before they fail all togther. If the sand paper works, you have a back up for if it fails later. Just my thoughts. Good Luck.
  7. I would guess it is your regulator, it sounds as though it is not regulating the fuel flow. If it is burning that hot it seems as though it is getting to much fuel. I am no pro, but guessing.
  8. It may help all of you with freezing snaps to try putting parafin wax on the snaps, I think it can be purchased at almost any grocery store. I'm just guessing, but it may work. I know the wax repells water and doesn't attract dirt. It is dry, solid, wax. Hope it helps!
  9. PRO-V, That's a good idea, but the way the legal system works now days you can probably get sued by the thieves for hanging the hooks from the ceiling.
  10. I have used this before, but all the 1 lbers I filled leaked afterwards when I would remove them from whatever I was using it for. Just my experience!!
  11. Anybody use Gapen ice rods? I've seen demonstrations on their full length rods and like them. I am buying one, maybe two at the Sportsmans show this weekend. If anyone thinks they are no good, please let me know. I'd like to not waste too much money. Thanks

    gps

Garmin EMAP, I think it is now discontinued, but I love it. In my opinion, get one with mapping features. Doesn't float!!!
  13. Definately a block heater, I will be putting one in my pick-up soon.
  14. DEADEYE, I agree with you, mine is basically for safety sake, I am not an avid fisher by any means, hense the name parttimer. I don't trust ice, or stupid people. Also, if I have my phone, I can report those who abuse our privelage to use lakes and accesses, especially with my new phone. In order to get a good deal on a phone I had to "upgrade" to a picture phone, I now can take pictures of people doing unlawful things and their license plate numbers.
  15. JIGLFIN, With the lanyard I can still use my phone just fine, no way I can lose it down the hole now, knock on wood. I got the lanyard with a little LED flashlight I bought made by Streamlight. I believe it is called the Streamlight Key-Mate. Hang the light and cell phone from the same lanyard, can talk on the phone and rejuvinate my glow lures at the same time, works great. Any other questions, let me know.
  16. I couldn't even fish anymore, I was very upset. Feels like I was placed in a desert in an unknown area, lost. Not a good feeling.
  17. So last night I am out fishing, poor fishing so already not a great night. I had to step out of the house for a second, as I stepped back in and turned around to zip the door closed, I hear something fall to the ice, my 6-8 month old $200.00 cell phone that I had in my shirt pocket fell out on to the ice. When it landed it was about a half an inch from falling into the hole, so I didn't jump for it in fear of knocking it in, just as I reach down to save it, bloop, good bye. I had to mad dash to the Mall Of America to get a new $200.00 phone because I took the insurance off of it about one month ago and they were the only store open. So if anyone happens to pull a nice motorola flip phone out of the bay on Lake Waconia reply, yeah right. Needless to say, secure all you loose items befroe doing anything on the ice, I always thought I was smarter than this, I am now, I think. By the way, my new phone is attached to lanyard that goes around my neck.
  18. Thanks guys for the info, I may just go buy one today.
  19. Hey, come on now, green could stand for the WILD!!!
  20. sometimes you can clean the thermocoupler with some fine sandpaper and it will work fine again. Doesn't alway work but sometimes does. This will only work so many times. I have done it a couple times on my furnace in my house. Cheap fix if it works. Good luck!
  21. Anybody trying those new buzz stix fishing rods. I am waiting to hear what others think of them, I can't decide if I want one. Any info helpful. Thanks
