  1. Looking for a good pickled fish recipe. Found a new lake that seems to be over run with small pike. Would like to try and pickle some I have never tried it. My wife and I both like pickled herring so I thought that pickling some pike might be a great idea. Thanks for any help DieselDan
  2. 2015 Fords won't rust but they will probably corrode like the tailgates on the expeditions. Alumimum is not a corrosion free material. Also had a buddy who had a Land Rover that had a alumimum tailgate that was corroding pretty badly. If your looking for something that resists rust I would stay away from Dodge unless they have improved a lot lately, as I see lots newer Dodges with quite a bit of rust especially over the rear wheel wells. Not too much you can do living in Minnesota to avoid rust, but I have seen some older vehicles with rust proofing stickers on the window and they actually seemed to be in much better shape then ones without. 3. Too many would be on my bucket list. But I like classic cars and modern muscle. Personally have 3 at home "to be restored" not in a hurry but wife says no more buying until I get these ones done. I've got a 1967 Lincoln Contentinal convertible sucide 4 door. A 1968 Chevy Suburban 3 door 4x4 that I'm putting a 05 Tahoe 5.3 ls and a 4l60 in along with the leather seats and modern interior from the tahoe and a 1974 Toyota fj40 that I think I will also put a ls engine in. Needless to say I shouldn't be playing in the computer I should be in the garage wrenching. DieselDan
  4. I just bought a 2004 sportsman 6x6 that came with rear tracks. I have heard horror stories about the tracks causing things to break like chains and sprockets, anyone have this happen? Thought the tracks might be nice for ice fishing when the snow gets deeper.Just wondering if I shouldn't use them if they cause too many problems. Maybe the stories are exaggerated. Thanks DieselDan
  5. I have a tandem axle icecastle with a berkon hydrolic frame and its wearing the inside of the tires pretty bad. Wondering if there is anything that I can do to fix this problem. Has anyone else had this problem and if so did you do anything to fix it? Thanx DieselDan
  6. fuel pump went out on my buddies suv he brought it in and they told him $850 I thought that seemed kind of high. Is that a fair price? DieselDan
  7. Guy I know has a lab weim mix that has a really hard time when left alone. Has destroyed carpet, doors etc. trying to get out of the house when they leave. I asked why they don't just put him in a kennel when they leave. They said that there afraid he will break his teeth out trying to get out of the kennel. Any one had a dog like this? Is there anything they can do to cure this problem?
  8. I think you should also look at the hummingbirds I have a ice55 and really like it. The different frequency is nice when around other flashers.
  9. I had a house that was off the ice quite a bit so I bought some 12" pvc and some 10" pvc and cut both to length with the 10" sleeved inside the 12". Then used small wood spacers so the gaps were even, then I sprayed insulating foam in the gap. Worked pretty well, but they were kind of heavy. Diesel
  10. where did you buy that thermostat jsk76?
  11. Anyone had luck installing a digital thermostat in a fishhouse? I put in a Honeywell and it worked until it cooled down. Once it got below 32 degrees it stopped working and said lo. I would like to put one in that works no matter how cold it is. If anyone knows of one that works in all temps could you post the brand and model and where you bought it? Thanx Diesel
  12. Having problems with the speedometer not operating but the odometer is still working fine. Also the abs light is on. I tried to google the problem and it pointed me to the vss in the rear end. Anyone heard of something like this? Is replacing the vss going to take care of the problem? Thanx for any help. DieselDan
  13. I have a GunDog brand fence I bought from a store that rymes with hills peet arm. It works great and if I remember correctly it will work up to 100 acres. It does require you to install wire but you can do that yourself its not hard. I would recommend buying a better quality wire than comes with the kit because the wire that comes with the kit is quite cheep. Once you have a invisible fence you will wonder how you ever got but without it. Its nice being able to let the dogs out the door and know they are staying in the yard, because even the best trained dog may "forget" to say in the yard and how bad would you feel to find your friend and hunting buddy dead on the road. Belive me the small investment of a fence wouldn't be a issue when your picking up your dead friend. DieselDan
