I got some guys up in the twin cities that want to meet up and do some kayaking, camping and fishing. Can anyone offer any suggestions that would be somewhere in between Sioux Falls where I am located and the guys coming from MNPLS area? I would say just having a place to paddle for the day would be more important than say quality of fishing. If we could all drive 2-3hrs on a Saturday morning. Then paddle and fish all day have a campground or something to drive back to Saturday night. If we have multiple vehicles we could drop off one at our destination and start paddling somewhere else with another vehicle for the day. Is there a chain of lakes, river etc that we could paddle somewhere? Would minnesota river near Granite Falls or Redwood falls be safe enough to kayak? I know both areas would be scenic and we could cover some ground paddling the river. Not sure what there would be for fast water, dams, etc. Or if there is any camping around the area. Any ideas or suggestions?

The Wife and I are getting out of town this weekend and going to do some camping up at Savanna Portage State Park in McGregor, MN. We used to camp a lot when we lived in Colorado but since we moved home we have only been once so we decided to change that. Neither of us have spent any time in McGregor so we're excited to see a new section of MN and a new State Park. We are going to bring the kayaks and try to get out fishing each day on some lakes up that way. I noticed a Trout lake in the Park that we will likely try and then we will probably leave the park and hit 1 or 2 nearby smaller lakes (as the wind will likely be a factor this weekend). Has anyone spent much time in the Park or the area? Any pointers on things we must see & do or recommendations on lakes in the area? Send me a message. I hope everyone is able to get out on the water this weekend as it's supposed to be WARM in most of MN.
