I was looking for some input on what direction to go with my wheel house. We did quite a bit of work on it this past summer and now it's time for some interior upgrades. I have been in a few houses and they always seemed to have semi-crappy layouts. Here is the current layout, it's a clean slate. I know I can save space switching heaters but stays for this year and maybe next. The inside dimensions are 6' 6" wide by 12' long and 6' high. I've got a perm up on mille lacs, and as the years have gone by it is more of a pain (and safety issues) to get the house put up on blocks... especially when ice floods.. I wanted to run this by folks to see if this makes sense. I have a smaller house 8 x 15.. I got a decent price on 4 - 2000 lb trailer tongue jacks.. the kind without wheels, just plates on the bottom, crank from the side. My plan is to bolt each one of these to a corner of the house. (I have a pretty sturdy frame with white oak skids, angle iron bolted to secure the house to them). When all the way up, they would clear the ice by a inch. when time comes to put blocks under, just go around the house and jack er up.... add blocks under the skids (from the inside fishing holes).. then raise the jack back up. sounds good in theory... thoughts?
