  2. Hello Anglers,,,Another peace of caution, is go buy a pair of hand picks...And maybe sharpen the tips a bit, so you can get back up on the ice...They only cost 5bills and they are nice to have...They say on their info to rap them around the top of your shoulder area...Mine have a long screcth cord...I don't go fishing without them...
  3. Hello Anglers,,,Well I also bought a Marcum lx5, this year. Been out fishing with it the last few days, had a blast. Seen fish going thru it all day long. Played fish with all day long. Great bright colors too read in the sun, no problem. Just fun to fish with.Very glad I bought one. Had it on all day, used 20% of the battery power.Nice.There are plenty of other nice flashers out there too. But this one is mine...

  6. Hello ,,,I used other open water units before. But for ice fishing using the MarCum lx5, How do you zoom in on bottom hugging Walleyes. And need some good operating advice for the unit. And How do you set up to find those bottom hugging fish???Thank-You for your expert advice...Does this unit work over muddy bottoms?
  7. Hello People,,,Had a idea on keeping ice holes free of ice in a shelter...seems like everyone has a battery in their house. Has anyone ever try to use a fish tank heater? I donnot think they would use to much battery power & I think they would keep the surface water warm so they would not freeze. If anyone tries this, would you please tell me if this works. Thank-you...mr fishfry...
  8. Hello,,,After reading most of this post I decided to buy the MarCum 5. This was a hard issue with me until I read this info... I like the Marcum 5, for the 2 cones, read in the weeds, stronger signal, 8 degree cone for deep water, clearity it should have. Can't wait to use it.Oka, is there a case that this unit will fit in so I can keep it more secure on the ice and in travel around with it? Thank-You, for your time... mr fishfry...

  10. Hello There,,,I think you guys are forgetting a few things here. If you are fishing deep water say around 20 feet. Walleys are not spooky. Shallow water yes, they are very spooky. Also R U V rays bother large Walleye eyes more than the small Walleyes. So usually they will be deeper. Color for the bait, they just see color better during different times of the day. Remember fish go to the shore line to feed once a day, but bite when teased all day long. For the larger Walleyes they will go to feed as shallow as the U V Rays will alow them to. The small ones get alot closer to the shore. Winter they move around less. They go to their winter flats. Summer they are in the flats closer to the shore. On large lakes.I always first look at the sky to see if it is a blue bird day or not. The cloudier the shallower they go. Then I use location. Then I use color. Then I use speed. What I see for color is not what a fish see for clor most of the time or day. This works for me, I hope I helped alittle. May a 12 pound Walleye be on your line.
