Le Homme Dieu Chain League Tournament
Fished the “chain” on June 26th, as the 5th lake in this 14-lake series. I didn’t get to pre-fish, but Roy did. He found a shallow spot that was holding good quality fish. So that was our starting spot.
On the night of the tournament the spot Roy found did produce two good fish and our largest of the evening. That fish weighed in at just over 3-pounds, which is a good fish for the chain. We came out of that spot with a limit (four fish) but only two of them were good fish. The other two were just 13-inch fish. We also dropped a second 3-pound plus fish in our starting spot…I hate pouching fish during a tournament!
Our second spot was a deep breaking weedline, which goes from 3-feet to 19-feet in just a couple of boat lengths. This break also supports a fairly healthy stand of cabbage. This spot gave up a number of fish and we were able to upgrade our two smaller fish.
So in the end we finished second and had big fish for the night. Not a win, but as hard as it was, I will certainly take it.
