Continuing its 40-year tradition of enlisting the sport’s most passionate anglers to create fish-catching products, Northland Fishing Tackle has named Eric Naig Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
An accomplished angler, Naig also competed for 11 years as a professional walleye angler on the PWT, NAWA and FLW walleye circuits. A fishing industry veteran and diehard multi-species angler, Naig joined Northland in 2009 and most recently served as Brand Manager. Prior to joining Northland, he spent six years with Pure Fishing, managing field services and public relations, as well as handling marketing and new product development duties.
“I’m extremely honored and grateful that Northland Fishing Tackle has provided me this opportunity,” said Naig. “I look forward to working with our customers, rep groups and others to expand our business, while maintaining our commitment to offer high-quality, value-conscious products that are Made by Fishermen for Fishermen.”
Northland Chief Financial Officer Matt Braun shared Naig’s optimism. “I’m excited to work with Eric charting a course for continued success,” he said. “His industry experience and unbridled passion for fishing are a perfect fit for the Northland Fishing Tackle commitment to creating great products for serious anglers.”
The company’s roots trace to a tiny cabin tucked deep in the Northwoods, where John Peterson, an enterprising young fishing guide, began pouring jigs and tying tackle for clients back in 1975.
As demand for Peterson’s products soared, he gathered hundreds of top anglers together on Team Northland, where they collectively fueled a steady stream of tackle breakthroughs and refinements that continues today in jigs, rigs, softbaits, spoons, spinnerbaits, fishing line, terminal tackle and accessories.
