Over the past 2 days I had the opportunity to test out the new Dry Skinz gloves. I handled over 60 Lake trout, cut lots of bait and filleted 24 fish. The gloves were awesome. Kept my hands warm and dry. The dexterity was great, it was no problem tying on jigs, removing hooks or running my XI-5 trolling motor. I have been looking for a great waterproof glove and i just found it.

Outdoor writer David Harrison was in my neck of the woods this week, so I took him kayak fishing for panfish yesterday. When we left the launch the temperature was 18 degrees. It felt like we were preparing for an ice fishing trip rather than a kayak fishing trip. Honestly, it left me itching to get on dome ice. It won't be long before there is ice in some parts. Be safe on that early ice. I know you've heard it all before, but complacency kills. Bring your spud bar, ice picks, and a throw rope at the very least. Check as you go, ans have fun!

The Fall has arrived folks and the bite has started to picked up a lot over the last couple of weeks. With water temps dropping the Crappie and Yellow Bass have started to make there way to there early ice locations. Over the next couple of months we will be working on locating these early ice locations. This is much easier to do in a boat and you will cover twice the water. A few things we will be looking for is standing weeds and different kinds of transitions with high spots. Finding deeper water near these areas will be key on Clear Lake.
