  1. The unit does this with the motor off, and with it on. I don't think my motor has a big enough alternator to make much of a difference, unless I let it run for quite a while. How far do most of you mount your transducers from the motor? I have an Alumacraft Tournament Pro., and I mounted my transducer half way between the motor and the plastic speedo. sensor. I'm not sure if the motor is causing the interference?? Any other ideas? Guess i could just pick up a new battery and see if that solves it. Thanks
  2. I have messed with my sensitivity quite a bit. Like I said, the unit works great for like an hour, and then it starts acting up. The unit also has an SCC feature for eliminating top clutter. Even with this on, it will act up. I don't like running the unit with this on because it really cuts the power down a lot. I just installed the unit in April so there is no corroded connections. All I can think of is the battery is getting old and worn out. It just might not have enough reserve "juice" left to run the unit for a long period of time. Starting a motor just takes short jolts of power, not a long extended draw. Anyone else ever experience this or have any friendly advice? Thanks for responding, hopefully I can figure this out, it's pretty frustrating.
  3. I have a Bottom Line 480max depth finder in my boat. I really like the unit, but I have had a continuing problem. When I get in from fishing, I always charge up all my batteries in my boat right away, including my cranking battery, the one the depth finder is hooked to. The next time I go out, I turn on the depth finder when I head out and it works great for about an hour and a half to two hours. Then I start to get some interference, nothing major, just some top clutter and lines from surface to bottom. As more time passes, the interference and lines get worse and worse, usually so bad I just shut the unit off because I'm so upset with it. Does anyone have an idea what might cause this? Is it possible my battery is poor, because it is older? It still starts the boat and runs everything else with no problem. I already exchanged my first depth finder, the same model. This one does the same thing. I really like this Bottom Line and although its not really a "top of the line" unit, I like its power and features, so hopefully I can figure out what the deal is here. Thanks for any help. T.J.
  4. A guy would think Lund would come up with a better seat pod design. What really does it is when sand and crud gets in there. Its almost like it fuses together. I have always had luck hitting the seat pedestal with a rubber mallet. Sometimes you really have to hit hard for it to do any good. The first time I used a 3 foot piece of 2x4 to pound on the pecestal and knock it loose. A rubber mallet would be a better route. You'd think Lund could come up with something like Alumacraft. Their push button release is really slick.
  5. Blackstar, I didn't know him, but I know who he is I think. First name Donald right? I know his middle and last name, but we will leave it off here. He hadn't been in Stillwater since 1993, was at Oak Park Heights for a spell though.
  6. Blackstar, would he have been a "client" of mine or a fellow employee??
  7. Leech Lake doesn't even make anyone's list?? Five years ago it would be in the top three. The walleye fishing has slowed, but it still has to be in the top 10 in the state.

  9. I am a Correctional Officer at Minnesota's "Big House" in Stillwater. Any time fishing, and away from that ****hole is a great day if you know what I mean!!
  10. I keep hearing everyone talking about their success on the Mississippi with jigs and plastics. I have never had luck for walleyes with any artificials besides crank baits. What kind of plastics seem to work the best? What brands, products and colors seem to work? I want to try some plastics, but don't know where to start. I don't want to be out there with 8 inch bass worms or something. Any advice would be appreciated.
  11. I just purchased the Bottom Line Tournament 480 Max and so far am very impressed. I used it on the Mississippi, and it seems to be a great unit. It has a very good backlight, it is a screen glow type, not just a light on the side. Plus you can adjust the backlight to 4 different settings. It seems like a heck of a product, with a ton of power for arond 200 bucks.
  12. I own a buzz stick and am not impressed. In contrast to other posts, I think it is a decent quality rod, but the action really does nothing. The vibration is too "fine", meaning it doesn't buzz in a big enough motion. Even with a waxworm on a glow ant, I can't even see my hook move, or vibrate at all. I also had to use black tape to hold on the yellow button (battery cover), because it kept falling off. Seems like a decently sensetive rod though.
