CALVINIST
My avatar pic is my largest bass ever. Caught in the metro area. 20.5". I didn't get a weight, but look at the gut. It was over 6lbs easy!
jefflake
I had two 7-2 bass last fall, on different days. I have had three other bass over the last few years that went an even 7-0. My biggest ever was a 9-0 from Iowa back in 2003. All fish were released except the 9-0, which I mounted. I wouldn't do that again, I would get a replica....unless it was the state record. BoxMN
So, on the length scale, does anybody think or know if any MN bass can hit the 26" range? I have had this argument with my neighbor several times, and I just don't think a MN can get that long. I know they can get fat, but 26" long?... Anybody ever get one that even hits an honest 25"?Do you guys happen to have lengths on the 7.5# plus bass you caught? Thanks!
fisherman-andy
Do I see a trend here. Most big bass are coming from small lakes & ponds. I am not surprise. These waters go largely unexplored by many bass enthusiast. Stop by your local water hole today. That trophy bass is just waiting...
Deitz Dittrich
Quote:Do you guys happen to have lengths on the 7.5# plus bass you caught? Thanks! My largest bass of my life was almost 11 lbs and was not quite 26" but was a Florida bass.
canobeans
All my bigger ones came from the same larger lake.
DeBo101
Minnesota - 3 @ 5.8-5.9lbs just need a few more ounces for 6lbsAll of those fish were in the 21" to 21 1/2" range. Also have a pile of 5 - 5.6lb fish in MN. Must not be fishing the right lakes for true pigs. Awesome bassin here in this state though!Biggest ever was 8.4lbs in South Dakota and was 21 1/2" long.2nd biggest was 22 1/4" 6.8lbs. Also got a 5.5lber from the same lake as the 6.8 that I photoed and forget to measure but I bet it was 23-24". Silly skinny fish. Don't they know they are american? lol
Duffman
BoxMN.....I really would have a hard time believing a bass could attain 26" here in MN. If you check all the state record bass for the northern states, for those that list lengths, not a one approaches 26". I don't think the bass up here have the genetics nor the growing season to reach 26".Personal MN best 22 1/8", no scale, late October, maybe 7 lbs? From the same lake at the same time of year, 20 7/8" -- 6.0 lbs.10 days later and up in N MN, same 20 7/8" length -- 5.8 lbs. BoxMN
Thanks guys, that what I was saying as well. 26" is just silly in MN, IMHO. Hmmm, from looking at the lengths and numbers here, my Dad's 23.5" LMB was probably more than our 6.5# guesstimate. It sure was a fat one
jefflake
Depends on time of year. A 23.5" in the summer might have been 6.5# or more....hard to tell. The fall, say October, that fish would have been much bigger than 6.5#
senco 1
Mine was a 6-12 on a Alexandria area lake on September 3,2006.
HossFisher
6lbs 6oz from a small west metro lake. It was a hair over 22 inches. I would say my top 5 fish have come from small metro lakes/ponds and 4 of them came from lakes that dont even have accesses.
ricqik
lol, well, after reading all u's posts, mine ain't so special anymore<------ only 6.62 at 21.5"
CarpKing921
I got a 24.5 out of Osakis while pike fishing. She was skinny didn't put it on a scale. I also have a 22 and a 21, both out of smaller East metro lakes. The only big one I weighed was a 5lber caught on a waxie through the ice on Turtle.
