Larry FlatCaster
Are the scales accurate? I used to use a boga grips for awhile, no scale on it. There were times when the fish didn't want to open their mouth. I still use it on occasion, but I have to say its a lot less work with a net. DTro
I agree, but when you have a fairly small boat (like I do), space is valuable. When it's not an issue, I will default to a large hoop net over anything.Yes, I think it was pretty accurate the times I've used it.
JeffB
I'm not sure if it will help, but this short video shows the proper weigh a big cat.
Ed Carlson
I agree, using a net to hold the cat secure is far more preferable then trying to hang it by the lip or worse yet the gill plate to get a weight. Simply subtract the weight of the net.The Frabill Muskie cradle works well for cats and sturgeon. A cradle that will cover the head and calm the fish is always preferable to most any choice. European anglers use a black "Catch Sack" to calm fish and get a accurate weight, a very good option and they also serve as a hold sack for that photo op as they breath well and allow the fish to remain calm. Most of the time I use a tailors tape measure and record length and girth, and if I'm really curious, I dig out a scale and do the net weight method.
