purchasing and installing spa tub in bathroom?

Recommended Posts

Well, like many people that build a new house we made a mistake and did not put in a spa tub. As we enter our 40s we realize how nice it would be to have a tub with jets.

I measured our current tub and it is 58.5 inches long, 32 inches across and 19 inches deep.

We would like to put in a tub with a wrap around with a shower like our current tub. When we went to a store to see what they had they had very few - -like one tub that was meant to be used as a spa / shower deal.

The others have to be tiled and I am not interested in that.

Any thoughts?

am I missing something?

ANY AND ALL THOUGHTS, please.

Thanks

Are you saying you're looking for a one piece tub/shower with whirlpool or jacuzzi type jets? If so, I've never seen one. I have seen and installed a few five foot tubs with jets to replace a conventional tub. I imagine you could purchase a surround kit if you didn't want to spend the money on tile. Personally, I don't care for the surround kits. Another option that I've seen is instead of tile or a surround, use a product called Corian. I've seen it installed in showers, too, in place of tile.

There are plenty of jetted tubs that you can add a shower surround to.

Problem is finding one that fits in your RO.

Another option is to buy and install a jet kit for your existing tub.

Good point Tom.

It would be as crowed as two people in one sleeping bag.

Sometimes thats OK though.

One benefit is you would only need about 2 gallons of water to fill the tub.

Anyone ever look at the Grohe wall of water showers they are a pain in the behind to install abut 6-8hours to roughin the water pipe and shower valves but oh so nice to use.

Dahitman I just whent through my rouhin book and this one might work for you it's an American Standard Cambridge Whirlpool 60" lenghth 32" width and a little over 18" deep it has a apron I didn't check to see if they still carry it but it is the only one they offer that will replace a current style apron tub without going to a drop in style check it out we will see if they let the HSOforum fly www.americanstandard-us.com

    • yep, expensive because they are hard to find. I just refill the one pounders. easy and cheap.
    • Why are the 5 lb. propane tanks so expensive and hard to find. I've looked online for them and they are usually about $60. 20# tanks are about $40 full. Wanting to possibly stop using the 1lb. tanks for my buddy heater and go with a 5lb. tank that will last longer. Oh, and I'm on foot 100% of the time.
    • I was using a Marcum Showdown 5.6 and loved it. Then my teenage son started fishing with me and he has taken over the Showdown. So, I bought the ice pack for my Lowrance Elite-5 from my boat. It's OK but I much prefer the Showdown.  The Elite-5 will act up at times and it really ticks me off. Now I'm looking for a Showdown for myself again.
    • Anyone have the latest and greatest on Morson area ice conditions?  Pretty early yet, but it’s been awfully chilly out there.   Thanks!
    • I went ahead and bought a tag since the FA season was going pretty slow in camp.  Then bang, bang, bang, bang... just like that we all have enough venison...   My season might just boil down to a few walks in the woods, checking things out that I’ve been curious about.  Just wouldn’t feel right not carrying my smoke stick with even though I probably won’t use it.   Premature tag purchase. 🤦‍♂️
    • Dang looks nice......I'm jelly.
    • Dave coming to get his grill off his truck and PurpleFloyed off his a$$!  😄
    • I would need a forklift to get my a$$ off the picnic table after eating all those ribs.   😂
    • Dave, you can grill standing in the back of your truck!  We just have to have a pellet grill in the mix after we have heard so many wonderful things about them! Other then they weight a ton! 😄   Glad to see your back, you seemed to have gone to He!! for a while in that other thread over there!  😯
    • I would need a forklift to get my Louisiana smoker in and out of the back of my truck.  I'll be happy to pay the $5.00 though........
