Hot, sexy, new musky lures?

Recommended Posts

I have been looking at the Jimmy baits by Musky Innovations....I didn't throw nearly enough plastic last year and these look like a nice producer.

Suick Thrillers in the 12" variety will also be on my list. New for 09 is the holographic colors....I like the Perch and Black colors.

Let the wish list begin..... wink

Krisco, super d's mangum crankbaits, jimmy, 23 oz curly sue. Etc etc.. Its seem like there's 100 new lures every year.... good for us, bad for our wallets.

I ordered 3 Jimmys, a Real fish Bullhead both from Musky Innovations, I got two Medussas by Chaos and I ordered a couple Heckler Customs and a few others he had on his site. I think that may be it for the year, actually probably not smile

I am looking forward to trying the medusa and the krisco this year. I picked a trueglide as well that I can't wait to throw.

Anyone see the "Cowdusa" in the water?

Also, I'm thinking that after the Double 10 and big rubber craze of the last couple years the sexiest thing a musky hasn't seen in quite some time may be a black Suick. wink

Anyone see the "Cowdusa" in the water?

made something similar last season. was kinda upset when i saw it on the market. mine are cowdawgs. they seemed to work pretty good so i am sure the cowdusa will work the same.

Glitter Tails will be on my list, have been running D10 blades on rubber for 2 seasons now so the cowdusas nothing new. Weagle or 2 also on the list, time to see what topwaters all about. Other than a new blade rod nothing much on the list but I'm sure I'll fill my 2nd box real quick.

Gregg, you must have been watching Stange on In Fisherman. They are a little behind the times. Yeah, they work and will continue to produce. Early on you caught alot out on the cast with them, but even as effective as they are you get fewer and fewer there and more on the 8 or at boatside, so I think they are even becoming conditioned to these now too. Not a ton of guys throwing the 13's yet, but enough.

Glittertails,

They have been used by a few guides now for about 3 years.

They had a write up in an

In- Fisherman article last fall and I have caught a number of Big fish on them.

They will be available at the Expo this year and you can get them in 100's of different color combinations and blade sizes. They come in 3 different styles/sizes and they all catch fish.

Jim Reuter, the man behind the Glittertails, will be in my booth at the show. I'll have a lot of them to check out, or you can have Jim make you one while you watch. smile

Glittertails are a must have!! A few of us have been keeping the secret to ourselves the last few years, but it's time to let it out an share the wealth.

I caught 20 muskies in 4 days on LOTW with one glittertail, I borrowed the bait to my brother on the second day and he proceeded to catch his first 50"er after 10 years of trying. They are the real deal.

Are the glittertails a DCG knockoff or do they have a little something different to offer???

On a Glittertail you can change the blades and skirts on.Buy what you like for blades, buy the skirts and make what you need as conditions dictate.

theres really nothing i've seen this year ''so far'' that get's me excited. jury's still out on the cow-dusa but thats just about as different or new as you can get. the tackle maker business has kind of reached an impass and it seems inovation has run it's course ''for now'' for most. new colors, plastic not wood, marriage of two companies baits. that's what i see offered as new and exciting. pretty much run the gammut it seems. wisher lures went out of business. hearing a few others are hurting too. i'm just glad i got a day job untill i can afford to get the dozen or so lures out i have that i've never sold yet. too bad about wisher though, i caught a few on their stuff, and have a couple somewhere still i think.

Glittertails are a flashaboo bucktail, however they aren't the same as a cowgirl. They come in 3 sizes and the bait is jointed and you can "qwik change" the blades and the skirts. It gives you a lot more options for blade sizes and colors, without having to buy a lot of different baits.

Believe me, they are different and you should check them out at the Muskie Expo if you get the chance. smile

I'm not sure they're a totally new and different bait, but they certainly do offer a lot more versatility than a standard DCG. I know a lot of really solid fisherman who swear by them.

i will and i'll likely buy at least one. i'm a sucker for just about anything that took some thought to make. the quick change is kind of like an old lure i came up with where the tops were different colors and were removed from the body and replaced with another. a guy in detroit made a similar one in the early 80's. right when i conceived it, lol. weird.

above i mentioned a dozen lures,. it could read wrong i think. it should read a dozen lure ''designs'' i've never offered for sale. and a bobber (near same price, no electronics) that would blow peoples minds.... a bobber?? YUP grin

There isn't much new under the sun these days. However they are new and different, you won't find another bucktail like them anywhere.

We took a great deal to make them different than anyone elses stuff. 3 years of proto types and improvements to the original design, have resulted in a very exciting new bait.

We didn't want to just make another DCG knox off, and the Glittertail is far from that.

Yes, they are available for purchase on-line

The web addy isn't to hard to figure out. smile

I am looking at getting a few new lures this season. Magnum Raddogs, Super D's, Jimmy baits, and more glittertails.

The main thing I am going to do is modify some of my existing lures to change the actions and responses.

As far as the glittertails. There is a difference. I throw cowgirls still and like them, but there is a lot more diversity to the glittertail. I had one glittertail last year that I think had two low 40 inchers, a 48, 49, 49, 51, 52, and a 53 before it had no tinsel and the blades were toast. (I nearly cried when the lure was toast) As Ace said the Glittertail has some different features that seperate it. Kind of like the difference between a jackpot and a weagle. The jackpot would not be a knock off of a weagle although they are both walk the dog baits. I still use both the jackpot and the weagle.

I would like to thank Don Rothmeier at Heckler Tackle. He donated some SWEET muskie lures to the St. Francis High School Ice fishing fundraiser. I completely agree with one of your customers who stated "Them paint jobs make them look more like a piece of art than a lure." We raised about $1800 for the HS woodshop and Ind. Tech. program. I'm just starting muskie fishing and I plan to contact Don for a couple of lures for myself.

Thanks again,

Chris Neises

There isn't much new under the sun these days. However they are new and different, you won't find another bucktail like them anywhere.

Except the Blue Fox Twin Turbo, which only Bass Pro Shops seems to carry... Then again they only come in double 7's or double 12's... They have just a split ring connecting the skirt part to the blade part, so they can be interchanged as well.

I'm not saying they behave the same in the water, but the interchangeable parts idea isn't unique. I suppose it's up to the fish to decide the subtleties.

    • My goodness, this team has a horseshoe up it’s rear! Each game they’re looking uglier and getting luckier! Thank goodness it’s a bye week! Hopefully our RB’s get healthy, and they get everything figured out.
    • Magic number from 13 to 9 in one day. Huge!

    • Yah Mike, it’s REALLY hard to look at great fish pics more than once... 🤦‍♂️😁😎   I think I’m really close to being done with open water this season.  Hard to say that but I’ve got hunting in the head pretty good.  The river weeds are blowing out right now.  Lots of heavy mats that I hate fishing in.  Going out for deer in the morning; ducks next weekend.
