ddsbyday
With 2 lb. test the fish most likely did not even know he was hooked. I doubt that suffered any stress at all.

dabaer
this same thing happened to me earlier this year. i was out on lake by my house and was out fishing for gills and crappie. me and my bud were bout to pack up and get some lunch, when this thing nailed my buckshot. i fought this thing for what seemed like a half hour, but turned out to be bout 5 minutes! i got the fish just below the ice when he turned his head around real quick and snapped my line:( It turned out to be a northern, id say at least 3 half ft long. I was in my flip over fish house and had four holes drill in it. When the line broke he sat under us for bout 2 mins. and i could see his tail in my hole while my buddy could see his head in one of his holes!!!! Gotta love the excitment!
