Popular Post Thalmann
It wasn't exactly ideal conditions this weekend but I was able to battle through the wind and rain for a couple hours. Fishing wasn't exactly lights out either ...but I was able to put a few nice ones boat size for a quick pic. With heavy thunderstorms overnight I didn't know what to expect. I started in a 20' basin adjacent to a shelf that comes up to 8'. While I marked and caught some smaller fish, it definitely wasn't what I was after. So I started working shallower until I found larger pods of fish holding tight to remaining green weeds. I found the bigger fish right up in the weeds in 8-9'. monstermoose78, ANYFISH2, Bass Thumb and 3 others

Barbelboy
White Crappies are hit an miss in most places. Those are the first I have caught in quite some time. They don't seem to compete well with black crappies in the lakes they share. Probably because this is the northern fringe of their range. Yup, gotta get the kids out whenever possible! Popular Post Thalmann
With water temps dropping back down into the 60's, the fall bite is heating up. Big fish will be looking to put on the feedbag before winter and were definitely on the chew this weekend. I started out in 13' of water working a flat adjacent to a nearby cabbage edge. It didn't take long to start marking and catching fish. The size and numbers this weekend were phenomenal. Fall can be a great time to catch a trophy bluegill. Now is the time. Popular Post Thalmann
The fall bite is underway and big gills are on the chew. With fall being so short, you definitely have to take advantage of the opportunities you get! So with less than desirable conditions yesterday morning, I went out in seach of those big gills that I know will be putting on the feedbag. It took a little bit to find the spot on the spot but once I figured it out, it was game on. I started working the outside weed edge in 14'-15' of water and got into some nice gills... immediately, but no trophy size fish. As tough as it is to pull off of a good bite, I decided to troll around in hopes of finding some true trophy caliber gills. I ended up sliding shallower in about 11-12' working the inside weed edge and it didn't take long and I got into some giants. Biggest fish cracked 11" with a few more coming in close. Vertical jigging tungsten jigs with full leeches and crawlers did the trick. All fish were released. Dont be afraid to move around to find these bigger size fish. In the fall they definitely school up tight and sometimes by class as well. If your not on the size you want, keep looking.....sometimes it takes finding that spot on the spot! monstermoose78, ANYFISH2, eyeguy 54 and 4 others
