Lowrance H2O vs H2Oc

I'm thinking about purchasing a Lowrance H2O or H2Oc after Christmas and wanted to get your opinions on if it's worth 100 bucks more for the color version. Is the resolution much better on the color as well, how is the night viewing, and how do they compare while viewing with a lakemaster chip? Thanks

I have the color unit and love it. I have heard that in daylight it is easier to see the B&W and the batteries last longer, but color just adds another layer of fun. I do think with the color one it is easier to see contours and features if you use the chips. The color really makes it easier to decipher what your looking at on the screen. Either way you go you will be happy.

The color screen is definately better for picking out details on the map chips, and makes it easier to read the contours.

I've had a black/white H2O since they came out, before the color ones were available. I've always thought about getting a color H2Oc but have never thought it was worth upgrading. But if I was buying a new one now, I'd go for color.

i have the color 1 also and love it.i have it mounted on my wheeler or in the truck once you plug it in my light stays on all the time and its very easy to read it in the daylight with the light feature on.its also easier to read the contures with the color.

According to the lowrance HSOforum the Black and White H2O has battery life up to 12 hours and the H2OC has battery life up to 14 hours, so the color has better battery life.

I don't have one but my understanding is that it is harder to see the color during the daylight unless you use the back light all the time so I think that is where some of the battery life is lost.

unless you plug it in on your wheeler then you can run the light all the time.but other wise im sure the light will drain the battery faster.i always carry extra batteries. explore i like to walk around and explore while using my h20c.

I found a h2o for 69 bucks with shipping, so I think im going to spend the extra hundred on the chip and then be able to get some extra's for my little buddy ....=-)

if you do some shopping around you can find some GOOD deals, paly with the B&W and then "borrow" a buddies with color and see what you like, if nothing else come spring you can sell it for more than you baught it.

it all depends on if it is clear out side.if its not clear it will not find the postion in yuor house.thats what it does at mine.but it will ask you if you want to keep searching just click yes and you can play around with it.but it will also eat the battery faster cause its searching for the postion.

The color is really nice but I agree that it is not worth the $100. Go to GM or another store and look at both of them and then decide if the color is a feature you want for the extra $100. The contours and other features are still the same...

Good LUck
