Painting Frabill tipups black?

I was looking at one fo the other posts about tipup type, and then did a search, but didn't find anything. Have any of you tried paiting the orange round tipups black on the top, to help gather some heat from the sun that some of you/us have said is nice about the black ones?

I was thinking of it last Sat while out on the ice, in the cold but very sunny day. I might give one a try to see if it makes a difference. Not the whole thing, just the top, and maybe leave some orange to help it stick out a bit. Maybe somebody already has though. Thanks.

Not exactly the same situation, but I took two of my regular Berkley plastic tipups and assembled them wit a black 5 gallon lid. Basically, I drilled a hole in the center of the lid, took apart the tipup and re-assembled it through the lid. It worked well at keeping the hole from freezing. Much better than without the lid. Until nightfall of course. I would think that painting it black would help out.
