replacement poles for otter lodge

I got an old Otter for free and the poles were all bent up. It had the round poles - I think the square ones need more room and I don't think they're interchangeable.

Otter wasn't real responsive when asked about the old material. I ended up making some new ones out of 1/2 inch conduit and it worked out OK. Then it came to combinging the pieces I used a 1/2 inch copper coupling and dimpled it with a punch and it worked out well. The long piece middle piece required two pieces of conduit which made lining up the bends a lot easier. The final trick was to take those little bumpy things that lock the side pipes out of the old pieces and put them in the new setup so the sides would lock down.

On the ones that weren't bent to badly I used 000 steel wool to clean them up and they seemed to slide a whole lot easier.

Frankly the steel poles work better than the aluminum.
