I you don't leave it unattended, it does not need to be licensed.

shelter licenses are only $12.50 i think and you can get them where you buy you fishing lic. not a bad thing to have

Don't need a license if you don't leave it unattended or have it out over night. Make sure you put your DNR #, Name and addy or license # on the house in 3" letters and you are good to go.
