Marcum Flasher Battery Useage

Does the Marcum Flasher use less battery juice like the Zercom Clearwater Classic did? Verses the Vexilar. Or do they use the same amount of juice as the Vex?

I have found that the MaArcum burns up battery power at a faster rate. However, I doubt it would run out while fishing. Unless I didn't charge it.

The longest I have run mine so far is 6hrs and it drops to 70% battery power. So you should be able to fish from sun up to sun down without any worries.

The LX3's current draw is 300mA.
1000mA = 1 amp
7 amp hr battery = 7000mA
So with a warm, good, fully charged battery you'll get around 20 hours.
I've gone around 15 hours with a cold battery and still read 10%

i've ran 17 hours and it say's 0 on the meter still works but starts acting like you have to use the ir button.

For what it's worth I've run mine for 16-17 hours outside on a single charge. The nice thing about the LX3 is you can keep it on the charger all the time so you always have plenty of power for a whole weekend if you need. If possible I always put my LX3 on the charger when I get in from fishing.

my zercom runs at a 50miliamps and 100 with the light on so that makes it last 140 hours using my 7 amp hour battery!!and half that with the light on...you'll never beat a zircom for battery use,,It has no moving parts and no motor..motors are ineffecient and your lucky if you get on thats 80 percent effecient(the 20 percent is lost to heat and some sound)

Im on Hour #16 without a charge and I read 40% so i guess it will drop fast after this. Maybe 20 hours on a charge?

I only charge my Zercom 15 min. for every hour used. Got mine in 1995 and finally replaced the battery in 2002.

I agree with the other Zercom posters here - the Clearwater Classic and LCF 40 both are champion battery misers.

I got a buddy that didn't charge his Zercom right after every usage and he went thru the batteries. I don't think it hurts the unit as much as the battery. It's always best to charge right away. from what I've read up on gel cel batteries.

it's most likely that he cooked his battery with over charging..that is the times when he did do it..I've cooked a few over the years by leaving it on too long..could actually hear them bubbling...
It may be better to charge them right away but i charge my zercom battery once ao twice a season and i;ve had this one three years.

Sometimes I will use my lx-3 for 2-4 outings for at least 5-6 hours a trip and not charge it up. I don't know if that is bad, but it can't be all that good for it. Otherwise I haven't had a problem.
