Archery opener

Recommended Posts

This weekend is the opener and I will be traveling to NoDak. Is anyone else going to hit the opener or am I the only nut that is going to deal with the warmer weather?

Good luck to all if you venture out.

I am going to try to get out somewhere this weekend. I have a permit to hunt in Fargo but I am thinking that may be a late season thing. I haven't had a chance to do a whole lot of scouting but I do have a pretty good idea where the deer are moving pn some other land that I can hunt. I'm definately not excited about hunting in the heat, though.

If its that hot, I will be working on other things. I keep a freezer there for the hot weather. If needed, I will skin and quarter and then place in the freezer and place a 2x4 in between the lid and freezer and then it acts like a walk in cooler.

Not me- I've got a b-day party for my littel girl (her 1st birthday!)

Good luck, Tom. I hope you have a big ol' velvetty giant walk by at 12 yards!

Maybe I could hit one that close. I hope its not to warm or I will just be getting things ready for the handicapped hunt at the end of Sept.

Forecast looks like it'll heat up this weekend. Bummer. If you don't get any work done out there, let me know- I'll do my best to run out there and take care of whatever you'd like.

I may take you up on that Scoot when I start to do the baiting for the handicapped hunt. Its hard for me to bait every week from Minnesota.

Thanks for the offer.

Yep, I should be able to help you with that. I'll be gone Sep. 11 - 20, but will happily buzz out there both before or after those dates. It might work out for me to bring my little boy out and have him help me- he's pretty interested in deer and the woods, so it'll be a god chance to fuel the fire a little bit. Just let me know when and how to help.

Well, I got my camera's up, stands up and my blind and bait started for the handicapped hunt I guide for. Also placed up 84 No hunting and tres. signs along the fences.

Way to hot to hunt and a lot of fall left to enjoy some cooler days with the work done.

I definitely was a cooker. Anyone else make it out?

FYI... we ended up with 1.25" of rain last night in Lisbon... should help things out around here quite a bit.

I was thinking of you this weekend Tom. Definitely a cooker out there! I wouldn't have bothered sitting in a stand either. This week looks a lot cooler though. Maybe next weekend will be better? I hope so!

1.25" in Lisbon? We got over 3" at my place in West Fargo! Definitely welcome rain though...

I was going to bring my son to ND archery hunting next weekend - anyone know how long it takes to get the archery tag in the mail? I'm assuming the archery license is similar to the tag issued for rifle hunting.

If you apply online, I believe you can print outr a number that will allow one to hunt right away.. Or maybe its the license purchased by telephone. One way it does work.

One could also stop at a Schells and purchase one as they have always sold them. I would call ahead to make sure they have them on hand.

I'm with Harvey Lee.. I'd stop and buy one over the counter (presuming they're still available) that way you don't have to worry about when you receive it.

    • Heavy rains across northwestern Wisconsin last weekend and early this week have flooded some roads and caused washouts on some highways, roads, state parks, forests and trails. According to the National Weather Service the area has received 7 to 12 inches of rain from Friday through Monday.Several park system property or portions of properties are closed due flooding. Amnicon Falls State Park, closed temporarily but has reopened, though some roads, trails and observation areas remain closed. Pattison State Park is open for camping only; all trails, observation areas, picnic and day-use areas are closed. There are washouts on the dam that forms Interfalls Lake and Highway 35 over the dam is closed. A campground and horse trail are closed at Governor Knowles State Forest and the day use areas along the river at Interstate Park are underwater.Water was roaring over Little Manitou Falls at Pattison State Park.Photo credit: Gervase ThompsonAll rivers in the region are running extremely high. The falls at both Amnicon and Pattison are roaring, but road closures mean observing the falls now is challenging. The Bois Brule and Flambeau rivers are high enough that some canoe launches and campsites are underwater. The water is making its way downstream and the Lower Wisconsin River is running very high with all sandbars submerged and canoeing and kayaking not recommended. The river is expected to crest Muscoda this weekend at 40,000 cubic feet per second. .
    • I'm still going to smoke this fatty while camping this weekend whether Leech likes it or not.....😋       See you fellers on Monday........
    • Rick didn't like all the "My Grills bigger and better then yours" posts!  😅
    • We switched to a new server. Had a glitch in our dB that lost a couple days of posts.
    • I ripped a hole in one of my favorite pairs of fishing shorts just need a decent sized patch to cover her up
    • I am not sure what happened either but we lost all of the posts last couple days not just this thread. And it looks like the same thing happened over on FM site as well. I know the site was down last night while I tried look at it.
    • We had no problems but only brought 10 extra gallons over.  We fished 5 days, pretty much running wherever we wanted and ended with 7 gallons remaining in the boat.  So, we burned 30 gallons of fuel in a 1785 Lund with 90 hp Mercury 4 stroke.   I thought that was pretty good!
    • Seems to me that we are missing an entire page from this thread that was here yesterday.... what gives?
