Recommended Posts

Lake Athabasca in northern Saskatchewan Canada has big fish and lots of them Lakers up to 60lbs. Northern Pike in the 50"range grayling and walley Trolling, casting and Fly fishing for either species works,Flies, or surface hooks are a blast for lakers they are just as aggresive as Pike espescially in the 20 to 25lbs. range, the bigger ones run and hide.Imagine 50 plus fish a day most over 20lbs. this lake is untouced and has it all, check out the pictures at Lake Athabasca Tours

Nice site, but it reelly (pun intended)turns my crank, that folks will spend a fortune designing a Web Site, and then not post any prices on it.

Best time for the Hogs are June, July and September,June we catch them in as little as 6 feet of water you can see the Lakers on the bottom of the Lake, Pike are the same in shallow water basking in the sun they look like logs on the bottom, use surface hooks for either species such as frogs, mice etc. etc.The Lakers are as aggressive as Pike espescially in the fall when they are comming in to spawn. It's amazing when you latch on to a 30 plus pounder and another is right beside it we had a guy last year with a 50 lbs. fish on light tackle and the rod didn't break. This lake is without question the best Lake for volume and size of fish caught.

I don't mean to put this body of water down, but i've fished the lake about 10 years ago. If it wasn't for the lakers i don't think we would of had many fish on our lines. I'd like to think that we were more experienced to catch more northerns or walleyes, but it was tough at that time. Lakers were a great time and a fun fish to catch. Wanted to know if anyone else had the same luck we did 10 years ago?? It sure was a long drive from central minnesota!!!!

cas, This lake is notorious for big pike. Maybe the weather had the pike turned off when you were there. I myself would be after those huge Lake Trout.

What does all this cost? I don't see it mentioned anywhere on the web page. What kind of packages do they offer?

The best time to catch Northern Pike is in June or July, your guide must be prepared to go to where the fish are, we venture where we must to get the bays in which the Pike like to lounge in.Lakers do seem to be the fish of choice for most fisherman, everyone wants to latch onto the 50 pounder. As for walley they are on the west side of the lake in the delta / river system, I could give more details if someone wants to listen?
For prices e-mail me.

    • Nice win last night with Kepler & Schoop doing the heavy lifting. Some tough but good work done by the bullpen too.  Yanks beat the Indians as well.👍
    • Nice bag of fish there Duff!   I was out for about an hour and a half last night and managed 9 bites; 4 bass and 5 pike.  Only 1 bass and 2 pike made it to the boat though.  Horrible conversion rate.   The bite is still on reaction baits for me.  Buzz bait, spinner bait, rattle bait, jerk bait.  Nothing on plastic which is usually my go to.  It’s been weird with all the short bites lately.  I’ve had very few fish that have crushed the bait.  Earlier I figured it was a food thing - they were just too well fed.  I’m hoping that’s still the case cuz those bass have DEEP bodies on ‘em.  I’m starting to wonder though if the pressure is getting to them.  We’ve had a noticeable uptick of new fisher people in the area.   The side action: Had a couple turkeys glide by and up to their roost next to me about 10 minutes after watching a nice 10 pointer stand up out his bed.  Yawn, stretch, [PoorWordUsage] and watch me fish for bit before wandering off to feed.  Bad photo but better n nuthin.
    • I like the walnut one.   Crack the shell, add some water, wrap it in a wet paper towel, it germinates, keep in a sunny area, and then they show these magic walnuts.     I think they left out about 15 years.  LOL.
    • Finally, had a decent day.......or shall I say hour. Last week was a bust, one 3ish fish in 4 hours. I target bigger fish, so just avoiding the skunk can be challenging some days.   Just let out the hound and had a smirk appear on my face, I see It's full moon out there. That always helps. Got out on the water at 3:00 today, missed 3 out of 4 bites right away.   Changed up my retrieval speed and cadence and it was on..........for a few minutes. All my action occurred within the first hour of my four hour stint.   4 cookie cutter bass....... 3.87 lb 3.94 lb 4.12 lb 4.16 lb   Spot on spot, the two 4's were back to back. I'm running cranks.   Good luck out there. The Fattening is coming up soon.
    • Thanks guys I will look into them.
    • No but he knows how to PM me next time! 😉
    • No leftovers???🤔 leech was over wasn't he!😂
    • A couple small chuck eyes seared and put off to the side,  taters , shrooms and a quick sear on bacon wrapped asparagus.. dang it , no leftovers!!
