fishingbuddy - I use the blood knot as illustrated on netknots.com. This works great for mono to mono.

If you're splicing mono to superbraid like Fireline, Power Pro, etc. it might require more than one attempt with some superbraids.

I practiced the blood knot today. Seems to work great thanks. My plan is to attach a vanish type line to fire line. Think this is okay?

Bloodknots might work or you may be better off tying fireline to a 3-4' vanish leader w/ a small swivel and 2 palomar knots-it's twist free and anchored down. I use the palomar for everything and haven't had a pigtail in ages. Tightlines!
