How hard do you pound an area after a follow or blow-up? I've normally thrown a handlful of quick casts then left fairly quickly to come back later - is that the right thing to do?

i don't. i toss a prerigged tube or super twisty on another rod normally. if theres not a take and i'm near shore and it's feaseable i go a way's away and slowly walk back to the area casting as i go with the same lure followed and the prerigged bait i cast last again. then leave and try and return later. like cjac said above about johnny P. i do that to people all the time on the croix. not so much on lakes because i'm rarely on them. if some one out of the blue figure 8's or is excited, it's not a sunny they are seeing. feel kind of like a vulture in way but hey, if theres a fish there and they leave i'm not letting the opportunity slip away. that's the thing. maybe theres no wrong way to do it. do what makes you feel confident, i suppose.
