I was thinking (and it felt funny) what should a person do if they hook a nice northern or walleye thats legal to keep but one you would normally let go? A nice 7 lb or bigger walleye would be great to weigh in; but I wouldn't want to kill it. What are the recommendations?

Bring it in for weigh-in right away to the on ice headquarters and carry a cooler with plenty of water in it.

Hopefully you won't be too far from the on ice headquarters and it won't take too long.

The headquarters will be set-up on a likely fish holding area and it will be out on the lake to cut down some distance.

Tell you what though, that's probably one fine dilemma to have ehhh with big fish caught like that?

They are in there waiting to be caught too.

One thing to remember is that the top 3 places will be awarded trophy's...no cash or prize pay-out. Everyone who attends will get an equal shot in the drawing, so.....

If you get a big fish and are worried about its' release, just do what you think is best since there really isnt a ton of pressure here.

Releasing a fish will be the anglers responsibility, not the weigh-in staff's.

Last thing anyone needs is a pile of dead and dying fish that no one wants. You catch it, you keep it unless you have a way of keeping the fish alive and happy.

See you there!
