Dale Rueber
While trolling last night my electric trolling motor started smoking. Looks like it had a bad connection in the top of the motor. I got hot enough to melt the plastic cover on the head. It is still under warranty so I need to take it to certified service center. Anybody have any experiences with the service shops in Red Wing or Bloomington. I can't remember the shop names and the Minn Kota web page is down at this time so I can't look them up again. marine_man
Motor Clinic in Bloomington and Fish Lectronics in Minneapolis are two places that are tough to beat for Minnkota problems.Good luck!marine_man
Dale Rueber
Thanks Marine Man, I think I will run up to Fish Lectronics today. They are open an hour later than the Motor Clinic so I will be able to make it after work.

Dale Rueber
I went to Fish Lectronics and ended up trading in my motor for a refurbished Minn Kota that was the newer model than and it also had Auto Pilot. After getting my first Minn Kota I kicked myself more than once for not getting the Auto Pilot feature. I havent had a chance to try it out yet but it is ready to go, maybe this weekend. Really nice guys at Fish Lectronics and they gave me a good deal on the trade-in.
