jigglestick, that is not a depth bomb on the Crappies nose. It's a Glow Devil they used to catch the crappies. However that is a depth bomb clamped on your nose

Nice vid - I forgot how fun Red can truly be!

Is there any vid from last weekend (2/21)? The FishMN tourney on Red produced about the best 45 minutes of slab crappie action any human can expect to have. And part of the thanks goes to wgmsa for pulling that 38 inch pike out of the honey hole before the action got hot and heavy. The second thanks goes to Matt Breuer for putting on those fish. Looking forward to LOW in a few weeks...

How do you fish those glow devils? Do you tip them with a minnow head or anything?

I'm heading up to URL in mid-March and am looking to try some new stuff while up there. Do glow devils work pretty well up there? How about shrimpos?

Shrimpos and glow devils work well. When the fish are going just use a Shrimpo with no bait. Just give it it a shake and the crappies come a calling.

The Red Lake Crappies are 13-15 inches 1.25-1.50 lbs.

Ojib if you get slabs bigger than that you have a beauty of a spot. I would keep that to yourself. You can catch bigger fish but not in those numbers. That was the best Crappie fishing Ive evr seen.
