Mercury outboard low oil warning alarm

hi folks

I've got a late (2003?) model 75hp Merc outboard with a bad oil warning alarm. It used to work, but now it does NOT briefly honk when starting the motor. Nor did it recently warn us about low oil.

We've also found that the battery has a constant drain on it, even when all accessories are off. The battery is pretty much dead if you dont run the motor for a week or so.

From what I understand, these 2 issues are definitely related. Anyone else ran into this problem? Do you remember if it was the sensor, alarm itself or something else? Is this easily fixed by DIY? Any thoughts & thanks!
