mmeyer
I was sitting on my couch enjoying the birds today when this guy sat in the bush outside my window. I have no idea what it is. I thought maybe flycatcher but I really don't know and my bird book hasn't helped me.
Steve Foss
Mike, it is a flycatcher family member. It's an eastern phoebe. Think back and try to recall if it wagged its tail. With no white eye ring or wing bars, phoebe is the call to make, and the tail wag is characteristic of the species. Its call also says its name. A two-syllable, somewhat hoarse and occasionally trilled "FEE-bee."
mmeyer
Thanks Steve, it didn't stick around long enough for me to tell if it was waggin it's tail. I was too busy fumbling around trying to get a photo. I hope to see him again and I'll watch for the tail wag.
