Reflective requirement

Recommended Posts

I generally leave my portable out overnight in front of my cabin and am wondering what other people do for reflectors? DNR says that you must have 2 square inches of reflective material on each side to leave it out overnight. I've tried reflective tape, but it usually falls off in the wind.
I have a Frabil Speedshak cub if it matters to anyone.

Thanks

Strikemaster sells a set of 4 2" square reflective meatal tags for 7 bucks. They have a hole in the middle so I am sure you could find a way to attach them to the canvas somehow.

I just went to the local hardware store and picked up the round reflectors used to nail on something, with the nail holes on top and bottom, bought some big safety pins and just pinned them on the portable.

I wonder if you could get away with just sticking a couple of the driveway marking reflectors in the snow right next to the shack and be good. I don't really want to staple anything to my portable.

Are old Minnesota car license plates good enough as reflectors on permanent houses?
Bend in half on opposite corners so they cover all sides of the house! grin.gif

    • friend good luck to you and your wife!!!!   I do know where you are at....  my prayers to ya............
    • Anyone been out this past week? My bird hunting has been cut short this year so I am depending on others to keep me up to date. My wife has Breast Cancer and is starting radiation treatments soon, lasting a good part of October. I may be able to do some deer hunting depending how she is feeling. She has had surgery and the outlook is great and she feels great so that's the main thing. Good luck to all you hunters.
    • dont everyone post at once!!!!!!🤣😂 hummers bailed from itasca county, got a couple still around cold spring, seen them yesterday. but i havent seen any robins in a while. anyone else???????????????????????????????????
    • My routing was keep all the drive train zerks greased every few outings, change oil & filter yearly and front and rear diff by-yearly unless I did a lot of swamp running.  There are a bunch of helpful videos on the Tube.
    • I was out today putting up a deer stand and came across a lobster mushroom. I don't think I have seen any this late before. I will be enjoying the little gem tonight.
    • thanks for the write-up - and great pics!  hopefully these stories will keep me interested until i have my own west hunt.   good luck to all
    • Always enjoy the "out west" write ups!!!  I really appreciate you taking the time to share your journey!!
    • Well I wasn’t going to do any fluid changes untill next fall but it’s been a little more than a year and I just clicked 1k miles. About 30-40 hours since last oil change. I think I’m just going to do it. So last time I just took it to a dealer but it’s expensive, the machine is gone for at least a week and it’s a hassle to deal with dropping off and picking up. So I think I’m going to try it myself. I’ve changed oil on things many times before so this isn’t anything new. I’m going to get ahold of my dealer and see what I need and have them walk me through the steps. I want to change the oil, the front and rear gear case oil and I’d like to do the transmission fluid also. I also just saw Polaris has a deal now through the 1st of oct for $10 off an oil change kit. So I think I just need an oil change kit and a quart of gearcase oil? I also have a new spark plug I’ll through in and go through the machine like I always do every few months. I know @leech~~ had a magnum what did you always do for maintence?
    • enjoyed the story but this view is incredible  your lucky you get to hunt there
