Mako Augers

Has anyone ever used the Mako gas augers ? I have been considering buying the 8" turbo with a 2hp Tech. Can anyone help ?

Mako is a type of Eskimo ice auger. Shark is another. They are manufactured by Ardisam Manufacturing in Wisconsin. Nice units that are pretty dependable. They don't do as much marketing as Strikemaster or Jiffy. I purchased one as my first gas auger used from a friend, and it worked great for about 10 years.

Eskimo makes a great Auger. I know next year I will be upgrading to a Barracuda

As stated before, Eskimo doesn't spend the big bucks on marketing like Strikemaster and Jiffy do.

That means they're less expensive, but not necessarily less good. We get so used to being wowed by major manufacturers that we sometimes forget the smaller operation can offer a product as good as, and sometimes better than, the Big Names.

This is great news considering I just ordered that auger I mentioned. The price was 259.99. I dont use an auger everyday like some so I hope it will hold up to weekend use only for the most part. Thanks guys for the great info !
