Converting ASF files

Darren or Dark,

What is the best way to convert ASF files to WMVs? Can you suggest a good download if necessary? I've got ASF files from my Aqua Vu and I'm trying to put together a little summary video of the weekend.

Thx

Back to the drawing board. This encoder/converter takes an ETERNITY to work. Now I'm trying the finished products and I've come to find out that the thumbnails look legitimate but you click on them to open them and all you get is a continuous white screen. The encoder was running the .asf files as it converted them, so it seemed like it was working. And the file sizes were all different, leading me to believe it worked. What a bummer. Anybody have any other ideas?

Go to download daught kom

Do a search on converting these files and find the most popular one.

Most of these give you at least a free trial to try, some are totally free.

That's what I thought someone would say \:\( . I thought there might be a magic answer, like just try doing this or change the extension or blah blah blah. I guess only I can live in candyland where things come easy grin.gif

Hopefully the next converter doesn't take an hour a clip to convert.

Finally found one that doesn't leave a watermark, and it converts to .avi files. I might have to throw in the towel here, because the quality is garbage. Just about can't see the jig now, fish shapes are horrible unless the fish are right in front of the camera.

I'll try one other converter I found. My last bet is to try replaying everything on a cable out jack to a TV and recording that!

Allright, now I need to convert from .mov to another WMM acceptable format. dtro, I believe you get .movs off your digital cam...are those in .mov format? What's your converter? I guess its DL daught com to the rescue.

Tried Zamzar. Seemed to work okay. Only lets you convert up to 100 MB. Takes awhile, but you don't have to download any software that might mess up your comp. Keep your files under 100 (under ~2:30 in my case) and you'll be fine.

Yeah, I got things to work with the .asf files last year. I can't remember what I used. I also got the .mov files to work with Zamzar but that site has its limitations as well. Dtro phrased it best, it's a huge PITA.
