Nick Kuhn
One of the few lakes in the area with some nice pannies. Was hoping to head out a few times this year but never got the chance.
rangerforme
Was out there sat along with the other 200 people. I'd be finicky too if every 10 minutes a truck was driving over me or a hole was being drilled.
vman59
very few people out there in the morning only a hand full and hardly any when we left at 10am. They must have come later in the afternoon. There was Justus and one other truck on the ne shoreline.
rangerforme
Ya, it was real busy about 1pm. I'm guessing 40-50 vehicles all together.

Grant Pearson
Any idea on how to fish the lake after the weeds start really growing in? Preferably going after pike.
vman59
Kingfisher1; once the weeds start up a good tactic is to find open pockets in the weeds and drop a large sucker or shiner in with a slip float. You'll have to keep and eye on it to keep it from going into the weeds. Try to keep the float as centered as possible in the pocket. Hope this helps and GL. Walleye Guy
There were quite a few people fishing the south end of Big Round today. There were a couple 4 wheelers out there and a small pick-up truck. It was kind of funny actually. The guy in the pick-up drove across the lake, stopped, drilled a couple holes and then drove off the lake. I think he must of determined there wasn't enough ice for his liking. vman59
was on Big Round this morning and the gill fishing was great ! Size fantastic. Only kept the males put all females back in. We used leech's and crawlers with a slip bobber and chartreuse hooks. Was fishing the NE corner of the lake.
Badger
We were on Big Round Sunday and it was fantastic again for gills! 2 Bonus Walleye as well. Slip Bobbers with leeches & crawlers is what we've been using for over 30 years, and it never fails. The landing is terrible as usual. I'm tired of people power loading!!! Through most of the females back unless they were hooked bad and bleeding. Fished the NE corner again moved around until we found a hole out of the weeds and thats where they were in about 10-11 fow. vman59
Looking for info on ice conditions? I assume it is safe for a atv?
Walleye Guy
I was out there the weekend after thanksgiving and there was 5.5 inches of ice. I am sure there is enough for a wheeler now.

steve schmidt
Fished Big Round on Saturday and they were driving on. We drove to the north side, Indian Bay, the south end and the west end. Must be 15" of ice.
vman59
fished Big Round this afternoon. Caught a few very nice gills. At dark we noticed a fair amount of tip up lights going off.
WalleyeChaser
Great report vman. Are the walleyes decent sized in there. I have caught those big gills you keep speaking of in years past but haven't had much luck on the eyes. Whats the trick? Do you know if they are using suckers or shiners? Might have to make a few stops on that lake again.
vman59
finding them and then not sticking with one color jig try them all. Yesterday afternoon it was purple glitter jigs and you had to let the waxie just hang down off the tip of the hook but keeping the tip covered. Seemed right at dark or shortly after is when we started seeing the tip up lites around us.
