i have a '85 Evinrude tiller, when i try to speed up, the motor starts to sputter and then dies or it just dies without sputtering. this happens whether or not the motor is warm or hasn't been used for a week. it usually doesn't have a problem with idling but as soon as i put it into forward and try to speed up, it dies. also, if i idle it high and then put it into forward, it usually doesn't die. any thoughts would be appreciated. also, i put new spark plugs in it last year and it still happened. i know its time or a tune up but any fixes that i could do on my own would be great on the wallet.
I went ahead and watched some of the MLF coverage. Wheeler didn’t make the cut but the bigger story was the Poche/Avera fallout.
Kinda funny listening to both sides of the story and putting together the scenario, reading between the lines.
got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....
Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.
Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.
Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
